I just bought a NOS dry system kit --- i have a stock 01 ZX3 w/SVT cat back & K&N filter --- i would like to do a 25hp shot --- will it be safe for my engine or will it blow to shit?? let me know

id say ur safe on a 25 shot. i dont know much about n20 tho.

ditch the dry kit, get a wet kit, they're a lot safer. by just injecting nitrous, you'll lean out the A/F ratio like whoa. get the wet kit, it'll keep the A/F where it needs to be, and it'll make more power. dry kits are better for FI applications where the car is tuned rich to begin with and you need a little extra cooling, but even then, I personally would never run a dry kit

the best judgement is half of stock hp is the highest shot you can use

I"m no expert, but based on the 75 shot that saleen uses in their car (yeah I know its a duratech, but I'm using this as a model) I think a 25 will be fine. I do agree that dry kits carry more risk, best bet is to go spend $40 on a a/f gauge so you can watch what your engine is doing. I have worked on mustang nitrous kits and detonation is a real problem if you are using stock fuel delivery equipment with a dry kit.

Read more and know whats happening before you do it, so you know what to look for if you have problems. I'd run a 50shot wet kit if I were going to bother with NOS at all, 25hp isn't worth all the expense and time to install it safely.

We run 150shot on a friend of mines 302 ranger with about 7* of timing pulled out, check your spark plugs if you are unsure if it is detonating or not, there will be grey and black spots on them if you're having detonation issues. If you're running out of fuel, they will have rounded edges on the electrodes and very white porcelin. If you're running way rich you're plugs will turn black.

Read up about something before doing it, engines are expensive.

I do nitrous installs where I work and I pretty much agree with what he said ^^^^ Go with a wet kit

Before doing nitrous, read, read, and read some more about it.

That being said,
General rule is that 1/2 of stock HP is safe.

Check plugs and compression often.
For 75HP or less, there is no difference between going with a wet kit or going with a dry kit.
Anything over 75HP, go wet.

As for safety, there are alot of ways to go;
Window switch,
WOT switch,
oil pressure switch,
fuel pressure switch,
nirous pressure switch,
air/fuel switch,
and some others.

Like zetectour said, idiot proof the thing as much as possible.
