: I was hoping for a good race with a EVO

Well yesterday i had a emergency call from work to go to a weight station that the cops computer went down (Don't ask) so anyway on my way back home i was cruising on I85 about 70 to 75 miles. out of no where this Yellow evo pass me very slowly, so im guessing he's checking out my gauge and see if i want to race or he just thought that i had those guage for looks, Well he step on the car im guessing F/T So i was on 5th gear and i had to down shitf @ this point he is like 1 car ahead as soon i down shifted to 4th gear and step on it with 10PSI i caught him and pass him like he was just standing still i shifted to 5 th gear like 1-1/2 car or 2car ahead of him.. the next thing i know im going 120+ miles ...
I don't know if he just quick racing as soon as i caught up with him and pass him.. or he was just surprise that my car a plain ZX3 just beat him....
So i can't say i really race him. but thought you might all want to hear the story.
after i let go and slow down to 70 miles ... guess what Blue light on the horizons... for my luck the cop already stop someone and it was already out of the car... I think i was lucky this time.. next time I'll be in jail posting forum from there.. hahahaha!!![:D]

the ultimate sleeper, you just gotta love when you reel those big fish in.

BS...10psi is not enough boost to kill an EVO
04-14-2005, 10:57 PM
From a roll, an rsx type s can beat a stock evo. Off the line forget it. I think you overestimate AWD 4 cylinders from a roll. Go searching for a 3000gt vr4. Don't look for that elusive skyline GTR though, they have those differentials where they can change from RWD > AWD > FWD in seconds!

That's fine call BS if you want, i don't care all i know he hit it and i hit it after him and i just past him,, now if he let go as soon as he saw me coming behind to quick that's another story ,, i wish i had the video camera mounted inside..
that's why i call it it could it been a good race, because i don't know if he actually race or got scare because he didn't left me behind like probably he was thinking..
now i still think that evo was stock.. don't think he was boosting more than factory.. I don't know how much is factory boost...
now i drive with the camera inside the car all the time, so i could have proof next time.
I have race and RSX, and beat it with no problem.. i don't think it was the Type-S. But i know it had cat-back.

factory is 19, and falls off to around 15 at redline

Thanks fat pat!! . what is the HP / TQ on EVOs
is that right i was checking mitsubishi website and it said 271hp. that a 2005 Lancer Evolution
04-15-2005, 01:18 AM
Yea, 271 for evo...except MR edition=276
BTW, I'm not trying to insult you. i could be totally wrong. i've never driven in a turbo Focus. I'm just saying eve with the power you say you have, theoretically you stiil couldn't hang with an evo. But AWD isn't famous for high speed racing, so it's still possible on a top end race.
04-15-2005, 01:23 AM
shit id be happy to stay a car length or five behind a evo during a race
04-15-2005, 01:43 AM
That's Cool SVT03...
I know what you are saying,, i just find out that they have 271 hp but how much tQ they have. and that's why i said it could it been a good race, but i don't know until the next one i guess, unless it was a EVO poser... he might had put the front bumper with the big wing just to make it look like an evo,, but it could it been a regular lancer...
I have that i didn't have my video camera with me.
I'm changing the exhaust from factory flex and focussport (ceramic coated) cat-back to trubendz 3" Stainless Steel... after i get the new cat-back I'm going to sell the focussport.. love the sound but is not an 3" .. it was good cat-back for what i had before turbo...
Still debating on magnaflow or borla muffer for the trubendz cat-back...

I raced an Evo and I wasnt that impressed with his launch. I was at his front door until I hit second, then he pulled a few car lengths on me.
04-15-2005, 11:44 PM
what your setup??
04-17-2005, 06:09 PM
My car still a sleeper, but only one thing to give it away. I just modified the model
check it out.. tell me what do you think.
04-17-2005, 06:25 PM
i could probably believe it. I have never driven/ridden in an EVO or turbo focus, but i have heard from a roll, EVO's arent really that fast, compared to a start from a dead stop. I think i saw you were putting like 200hp or so at the wheels? An EVO is rated at 271 at the crank, minus the on average 15% loss thru drive train, more i believe in AWD cars and that would probably put an EVO at about 220-230 at the wheels, and depending on how those are gearer, that could probably be a pretty close race. Anyways, you car is probably the nicest sleeper focus i've ever seen, keep up the good work and watch them cops if you're going to be racing people.

HAHA..I believe him all the way. With all my mods I have no Problem sitting 1 car back from an evo on a roll. From 40 50 70 and 80 MPH all the way to 125... So im calling Nice kill. Yes...if you noticed there is no 60 in there. Due to my racing style there is a lapse of power at 60mph.

Updated my gallery with more pictures of the sleeper.

all I have is whats in my signature.

ive ridden in my friends evolution and its not as fast as people think they are. they are quick dont get me wrong ut i think people put them on a pedistal just because they cost so much and they are turboed...and they have an intercooler that sprays water...i like them alot dont get me wrong but i think that some times they are overestimated

the evo was never built to be a highway monster. its a quick, amazing handling car. theyre built for rally, autocross, road courses and 1/4 mile. you dont get an amazing top end car with awd and a 4 banger. theyre amazing cars, but yes, at some times overrated.
but theyre purpose built. just like our svt, and a evo would walk an svt on a road course, or an autocross course

i had alittle run in with an evo the other day.....lol lets just say i might as well of put my car in park when the light turned green.
04-20-2005, 11:47 AM
^^^ from a dead stop they ARE monsters, cause of the AWD they can launch at really high RPM's and no wheel spin.
