zx3duffman 04-10-2005, 05:09 PM If i buy a turbo will that mess my engine up bad im thinking about buying the the wagner motorsports turbo for 2350??? i got a magnaflow catback and a aem cold air. i know the air intake will be gone once i get the turbo but what else would i need on my engine? cause i dont want to fry anything?
1turbofocus 04-10-2005, 06:29 PM If you do that kit and dont buy some form of tuning you will kill the engine , They will tell you it isnt needed and the crappy 5th and 6th injector will work but it isnt safe and will in the end hurt your engine

zx3duffman 04-10-2005, 08:21 PM ive seen the turbo on ur website the stage 1 for 2795 and yea thats a little high thats why i was thinking of going with wagner but if i buy your kit what do i have to do to my engine not to fry it up. ok you got to relize that im 20 i just started working 40 hrs as a carpenter and im not going to have a lot of money yet. if i get a turbo for my car its going to be a wile before i can get any thing else thats to expencive.

focusin 04-10-2005, 08:55 PM Hey duffman I will tell you the same thing I tell everyone else in your situation DONT GO CHEAP!! Its the biggest mistake you will ever make especially when doing something as big as a turbo. So to answer your question will a turbo fry your engine? Only if you go the cheap route and dont get exactly what you need to do it right the first time. Trust me.
And when he said a tune he meant a computer chip tuned for the turbo set up.

danworth 04-14-2005, 03:00 AM depends on the turbo you use.
Im using the GT28 and running 10psi peak boost then it drops to 6psi, its a very safe setup intercooled and with the det proventing aquamist water injection setup. 250-260BHP at the fly should be safe on stock internals on 98(RON UK) 93(PON US) but you'll need a very good tune/map to insure that the engine wont go pop at high speeds
take toms advice, if you go cheap on the kit AT LEAST spend the money on the tune.

If you have to ask what tunning is, you are in no place to slap a turbo on your car. Start by reading the FI (Forced Induction) threads and go from there.

danworth 04-14-2005, 11:18 AM going on your plans (300hp (i guess you mean WHP)) you might need to start lowering the compression a bit then you could defiantly hold the boost.

I agree with Tom, a turbo kit is nothing without engine managament.Not saying a kit has to come with one, but you need to have some sort of fuel/timing control enorder to run safe and reliable.

My car is at a shop getting turbo'd.My car is their testbed so I'm getting a deal.For engine management I am running a SCT chip and 42# injectors and 80mm MAF.
