Need a tire recommendation. My OEM 205/50R16 Firestone Firehawk GTA 02 tires are making a loud whinning noise that I can't take any longer. Has anyone else experienced this. They currently have 48,000 miles. I'm considering replacing them with 205/55R16 Bridgestone Potenza G009 tires. Are the Bridgestones good in wet conditions particulary snow? I live in Minnesota and the Firehawks were terrible in snow. Any feedback appreciated, thanks.

Why do you want to go with the 55 series tire compared to the 50 series? I have 55 series tires and do not know why the kid who owned my car before put them on so i always knew them as a stock tire size. I dont mind thought because it gives alittle smoother of a ride and a smaller fender gap.

The main reason is I'm hoping the 55 series are better in snow and wet conditions. It is incredibly easy for me to hydroplan or skid. I had wanted to try 195/55R16 tires, but was only able to find 2 or 3 in that size; many more choices in the 205/55R16 size. The Firestone Firehawk GTA-02 was the OEM tire for 2000 to 2003 model years and I believe the Bridgestone Potenza G009 is the OEM tire for 2004. Anyone out there with 55 series on 16 inch rims? Thanks.
