It isn't much, but Carroll Shelby is driving a test version around. Basically, just an 05 with added scoop. I'm sure the outside appearance will be much better on the actual one that will be sold to the public.

yea that is pretty nice. It looks like it has a totally different tranny than the GTs now have. It prolly has a solid race tranny where the stick goes straight to the tranny instead of running thru cables/ levers. But anyway it looks like that is going to be a very nice Cobra indeed.

It is actually the same tranny that the current Cobra uses. a T-56 six-speed manual transmission.

yea thats what it looked like, couldnt remember the name. Thanks[:)] . It is good they are putting that tranny in, cuz I hate the current transmission in 05 stangs. My mom has an 05 V6 5 speed and the tranny has that whole long lever system for shifting and it sucks lol. The Focus has a cable system, which i dont even like, but it still shifts better than the stang IMO.

The 5 speed in the 05 Mustang V-6 is the same T-5 that has been around forever. Put a Pro 5.0 or Steeda shifter on and call it a day. It is a perfectly fine transmission for the V-6. The GT gets the T-3650 which is also very good.

Yes, I know the tranny has been round...but the linkage to the shifter sucks. The lever system creates longer and slower shifts. Steeda hasn't come out with the shifter for the V6 yet, but they are working on it from rumors I have heard. The tranny holds the power fine though.

Ok, the "linkage" you are talking about is a single rod that slides along rails inside the transmission. The rod doesn't determine the length of the throw of the shifter, the pivot point on the shifter itself determines this. The T-5 is the same whether you mate it to a V6 or V8. It is the same transmission. The shifter fits the transmission no matter what the transmission is attached to.
