Increase your horsepower from 170 to 276 and torque from 145 to 204 ft/lbs. as so it says

on http://focus.c-f-m.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=274 for the

minor price of 3,894 and your turbo kit for the svt 239whp wiht a price of 5800 sure yours it

is to the wheels but im sure 276hp is going to put more then 239hp of that to the wheels so

why should i go wiht a turbo when the SC will have it beat for alot less of a price is the SC

to much for the engion that you only have you turbo at 9psi and 239 hp for longevety or

why????

Most people get caught up on HorsePower, the 276hp from the Vortec is about 221 at the wheels, where as Tom's kit is 239whp, not to mention torque.

Torque is where its at, torque is what lays you back into the seats NOT hp. Most turbos produce MUCH more tq than a SuperCharger. The Vortec numbers are at 12psi which is stock for them, Tom's numbers are at 9psi which isn't close to the full potential of his kit. To get all the power from Tom's kit you would have to build a motor to accomodate the flow of the turbo.

Sure Tom's kit costs more, but the upgradability of a turbo is awsome compaired to trying to upgrade a SC.

As for why only 9psi, its called detonation. Superchargers make most of their power at high rpm's, on the other hand turbo's make big power down low then all the way to redline. The more an engine is loaded the more power it makes, power = heat , so the heat causes the fuel to ignite early....... boom you have detonation.

all right i know about pre detonation and all of that, thats why you have to put Premium in becuase of the higher compression pistons in the SVT, but a super charger is always going to be there when ever you punch the gas expecelly in the low rpm thats why i was impressed to at the 276 to the fly knowing super chargers that has to be a long area where you will have power and with turbo chargers you have to have a very good kit to get good power in the low end because of turbo lage and about the upgradability of the turbo. I would rather have a cheaper turbo kit that is not upgradable then to have an upgradeble one where i would have to get a diferent engion or replace the heads to lower compresion to get more air in. if i would spend that kind of money i would put in a v 8 conversion kit wiht rear wheal drive and really have some fun in my foci

Oh, that $3800 doesn't get you the 276hp either. That's for the non-aftercooled one. it's like $4800 with the aftercooler, so not much less than toms when it's all over.
