I am looking to buy a 2002 Silver SVT Focus 2dr. Hatch.
Wondering what kind of problems you all have had?
Are there any points to look at when buying it?

mm...the 2002 SVT was the most problematic of the three years, being as it was the first year of production. Clutch problems are the biggest issue...there is TSB out for premature clutch wear and a rattle noise.
If you are looking for a solid car that's not going to give you any problems, the SVT isnt your car. If, on the other hand, you are willing to deal with hiccups here and there to have an amazingly fun car to drive, then go for it.
Just get a history of what work has been done on it, see if it is still withing its factory warranty, and I would suggest buying an extended warranty on it if you can get it for a good price.
13K (hard) miles on my 2004 and I've not had a single problem with it, but others have not been so lucky.

Looks like all of the recalls have been done and the CARFAX report looks fine.
Said that the Audiophile 6CD changer had been replaced and the Variable Intake was changed as well.
Besides the clutch have there been any other problematic areas?

I had a few TSBs done, the main one was the YRF0 which helped out a lot. Clutch seems to be ok, but i think i am going to take it in soon, just to be safe. I have a 2k2 with 31k miles...

I have had a few issues with my 04 SVTF, had the clutch TSB done, 2 T/B's and some other minor things but what can I say, I LOVE my car!!!!!!!!!! Like Amanda said, if your willing to deal with a hiccup here and there in trade for an EXTREMELY fun car to drive, go buy that bad boy!!! [:)]

Yeh, everything seems good so far, I do all of my own repairs and upgrades.
There wasn't a whole lot of aftermarket support for the Maxima I am selling to get this car, so I had to make one off mods to do it, so most was custom.
Just need to get some money from selling my car and then figure out where the rest is coming from...

Good luck Brian. I can assure you that if you buy it, your going to LOVE it just like we love ours!! :-)

are the 04's the cleanest year?

What do you mean by cleanest???
Emissions? or what?

Well I took the car to have it looked over by a very trustworthy mechanic that I frequent.
He gave the car flying colors, only recommending the front brake pads be changed within 5k mi.
Looks like I will be purchasing the car this week. :)
You all have a New SVT Owner among you. ;)
I have a 2002 and I have had no clutch issues… However, while getting my car repaired at a Ford dealer’s body shop, it wouldn’t start for them and they determined it was the variable intake and they replaced it. I guess I am 1 for 1.
