hi all, im running a 65mm Focus Central TB but been told they are no good for turbo applications and that the stock one is better. also been told that the stock one gives you a slight power increase over the 65mm [rolleyes]
Any truth behind this?

I run the OEM TB.
I doubt a larger TB would cause a power decrease.
However... keep in mind that changing the TB may effect tuning as throttle position is used as a look-up in some of the tuning tables.
Probably most significantly, Open Loop fueling is triggered by throttle position.... so a bigger, or just diffent, TB might pass more or less air than stock when at a given TPS voltage output. It may be possible that a bigger TB might pass more air at a given voltage, and therefore allow the engine to operate at higher load than before at part throttle, while still leaving the engine in closed loop fuel mode.... which could lead to deto problems.
If you have tuning software like SCT this would be easy to fix if it were a problem.

Exactly what im thinking, how would a larger Throttle body decrease power.
Well, my car is going back for more work soon (then it will be finished) ill give them the stock one to play with see if it is true.

I run the stock one, I just ported it very nicely and it has no problems what-so-ever. I refuse to upgrade something that does a good job. I feel my next upgrade will be a sheet metal intake with short runners.

I had my turbo on for some time with my stock TB and i loved it but one day i went out and bought a BBK 65mm TB and let me tell you WOW the response is soo much better and my turbo spools up faster too. No way you loss power, if anything you gain "in a way".

good to hear i have a 65mm

I'm running 65mm in both. I think throttle reponse is improved in the N/A as well.

i will be running my 65mmtb prob. the most fun mod i have on my car( minus the susp)
the throttle response is crazy now, cant wait to see it with 330-350whp!!

^^^ I second this^^^ 65 is GREAT but there is more to be had..
