I have been very happy with my Clutch Masters Stage 4.

Takes awhile to break in to where it isn't really grabby, after that not bad at all.

I had the stage 4 (4 puck, sprung hub) on my FrankenTiva (Festiva w. Miata Motor and ECU) and man..that thing GRABBED with a vengance. Chirped 3rd with ease. Course, the FT only weighs what...1400# GVWR? I had to rev it up higher and almost slip the clutch everytime in traffic. I want just a notch under that...so, 3 it is...I just want to see what ditching the DMFW does infavor of a light FW...I cant wait..hope its nice and rev happy!!

How do these clutches act in daily driving conditions? Are they too extreme and hard to push in?

Which stage would be best if you're going to be driving the car daily?

I have the stage 4 6 puck style and have no issues with it at all in fact it seems to have less effort or the same as stock but this dont slip if you power shift it takes a little getting used to for real heavy stop and go but I love it[thumb]

So I went to the SPec site and saw that they label their clutch kits by TQ capacity. For example: Stage 1= TQ 299, Stage 2= TQ 340, etc.

I might be adding an SC in the near future. But I doubt I'll be exceeding 300 HP. Would the Stage 2 be a good option. I mean I also want a clutch that is not too stiff to operate since I have to be driving around town daily.

Here's the link: http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.html

CM cost more but in my opinion is the best clutch for the Focus

from some research I did, Clutchmasters holds more power with less clamp force than SPEC...........just based on that it shows how much more advanced CM is. If my decision were between those two I would go with Clutchmasters hands down.

Keep in mind I don't have experience with either of these clutches on my car so this is soley based on the information above.

Here is an example. Spec Stage 4 rated to hold 339 ft-lbs of torque (all clutch companies measure this rating at the flywheel, just FYI)............and it takes 2000lbs of clamp force to accomplish that.

Now the CM4 on Tom's car has held 440hp at the wheels, which is over 500hp at the flywheel, for a long time and many, many trips to the track on slicks. They accomplish this with only 1500lbs of clamp force.

And to put it into perspective, stock clamp load is roughly 1050lbs.

Spec Stage 3 holds the same amount, according to their web site...for what it's worth

True but its an organic disc so the longer its pushed hard the more it will fade and not hold up. I was trying to compare apples to apples, both stage 4's from CM and SPEC respectively have ceramic disc which will hold up better to extreme heat caused from drag racing with slicks or long track times on a road course. Comparing a ceramic friction material vs. an organic material is not a fair comparison.

I think you can get the spec stg3 in ceramic,, at least thats what their site says :)
