I have a question about the stock fuel pump on the Focus. I have heard that some Focus's came with a bad fuel pump that gets weak after time and ultimately leaves you stranded.
What are the warning signs of this failure?
Is there an after market solution that fixes the issue better than stock?
I feel a throttle "lag/sluggishness" sometimes here recently. I am thinking O2 sensor or maybe the fuel pump problem. I am just seeking answers before I get the big attack!

I would say it is your fuel pump. I have had the same problem as you, lag when I was driving on the highway a couple of times but other than that everything ran good.To get to the point I was driving on Thanksgiving day and all sudden my car started to decrease in speed and everytime I would push the accelerator my rpms would drop . The next thing I know I am curb side on the west kentucky park way . Towed to the local Ford Dealership ( on their dime) and 2 days later my fuel pump was exchanged . I told the mechanic that I also heard that the fuel pumps where bad and he looked it up and they are only bad on the Zetec engines . If I was you I would check your fuel pump. sorry but I dont know any good advice on aftermarket fuel pumps .

I had a recall on my fuel pump and I have a 2k spi you could easily tell a diffrence after it was replaced. About after market pumps, unsless you need the extra gas to your engine stock pumps should be fine, any thing higer would most likley cause trouble I think.

I'm having a little trouble with my focus and I really dont know what it could be. When I start the car the fuel gauge doesn't move until the car has been running for about 10 seconds. I haven't had any trouble as far as the car cutting out, actually I think it burns to much fuel but I think that could be caused by the msd ingnition, 9mm wires and those denso plugs I'm currently running. Other than how the fuel gauge is acting the ingnition set-up has been the least expensive power upgrade that you can actually feel. Any suggestions on what could be causing the delay in the fuel gauge reading.
