Hey guys and gals... As I was having my car washed and cared for, one of the young gentlemen suggested I take my car to this place nearby that lowers your car for $40?! He says he's got his and his friends cars done from there. Isn't that absolutely ridiculous? I looked at him like he was nuts, but of course, thanked him (cuz he polished all my wheels free for me) but damn... his car must bounce like crazy. Don't they just cut your current springs?

Gee, you think I should go get my car lowered for $40?!
[confused] [rolleyes] LOL

Ummm, lemme think about this one....

NOPE

[:D]

If it's that cheap, something is not right. These types of things are not cheap when done right. It surely doesn't sound like it's worth it to me.

Probably cut a coil or two, or heat them. Heating them is bad, and cutting coils is too if you do it wrong.

yea this is prolly one of a few things if he isnt just lookin for an excuse to talk to ya

they compress the springs with brackets or a big rubber band, they cut them, or heat them

none of these are what u want to do, they make ur ride horrible and tear up your suspension in the long run so itll just get worse

Not to mention possibly break motor mounts after too much bouncing

Yeah I hear you's... thanks for responding. I never ever considered this. I just thought you all would get a kick out of it. I actually saw a car today who probably went to that place to have it done... bouncin all over the place. Haha.. nice way to ruin your car.

besides making the ride terrible, cutting can alter the suspension geometry and decrease the car's ability to dampen road irregularities, which can be downright dangerous. (read: hit a pothole at 55, lose control of the car, roll, die, repeat).

not just a cosmetic or comfort issue. and yes, he was probably trying to represent himself as some kind of hero cool guy to try and impress you.

i've got a dollar bet - he said he had a honda, too, right? let me guess ... "R-type." sure buddy, they're all R-types. :)

Oh yeah, I am just so easy to fall for that?!?! Suuuuure. Pffft! I am not dumb, I can tell he was actually trying to be nice... though I know he wouldn't have minded somethin extra.. haha... since he kept calling me "Gorgeous" or "Hey Gorgeous..." but I could care less. That doesn't impress me. [;)]

There are guys out there that actually do that?? I would feel like a complete idiot if I talked like that to a woman... it just seems so cheesy.

Why? Some women like that, when I was teen I thought that to be just a line, but when you are older (I'm 26) you kinda appreciate being called gorgeous, from the old, young, and even the hormone driven...[:p] (Even after I tell them I'm married, I always thank'em for the compliments)

When my hubby looks at me and does his little wink, tells me how good I look, call's me sexy...[:I] gorgeous, (yea, yea I know I'm not stupid, I know what he wants.) Well, it is my God given right in marriage as a wife to provide and I give it to him when he wants. In return I get nice compliments and then some.....[;)]

See its not always cheesy, women loved to be complimented, even with "Gorgeous"

I'm sure even though jrzx3 knew the young gentlemens intentions, I'm sure she still appreciated the fact the he found her attractive and made a point to tell her so.
