My mother-in-law brought her car over tonight so I could swap out the lower upper control arm bolts with the SPC 81310 adjustables to get the rear camber in line, get the new tires mounted and give it a final alignment. Well my worst fear - the old bolts are SEIZED! (broke a socket type seized) Right now I'm looking at LR camber of -2* and RR camber of -2.3* which is too much.

So what have folk done to deal with the seized bolts? I've read of replacing the control arms in this instance but what has everyone done to deal with the seized bolts? Start cutting the old bolts? Go after the nut with the weld? I'm stumped.

I used a sawzall to cut them out, then put in new arms and bolts.

well when my got seized I got lucky that I was able to take a wrench and throw it behind the head of the bolt and use that with an impact to coax the bolt out of it place. If you can't get any movement out of it you may be forced to hack and slash the sucker out and buy new control arms. That's the only way to get replacement bushings.

Looks like I better charge up the sawzall battery and break out the metal cutting blades. YUCK!!!

I meant upper, not lower. My mistake Geezer. Any further thoughts on this? I believe I am stuck cutting stuff out as the others have suggested.

I guess you could try PB Blaster and hope it loosens overnight, but that's really a long shot............(However, I have gotten out of jams with PB when things look beyond uncorking).

Try to find some Kano Kroil. This is a stronger penetrating oil than PB Blaster is (like PB is better than wd40, etc.). And use an air powered impact wrench if you have one (or a impact socket (these rarely break) and a long breaker bar (you might get lucky and break the bolt). If that doesn't work, cut the nut off (you have to do that anyway to install the bolts) and then cut the end off the bolt and try to drive it out with a pin punch. A Dremel type tool with a cut-off wheel is best as there's not much room to get any kind of saw in there.
