I have been contumplating on getting a set of polyurethane suspension bushings. My friend said that they are awesome. Is it difficult to replace all the bushings? (front and rear control arm and sway bar)

Yup, it's quite intensive. Sazall, grinder, cutoff wheel, hammer, punches, drifts...
They lime to seize. Bank on replacing all the hardware in the rear end.
Also note, because of all the sticky grease and the sheer amount of bushings in the rearend, the suspension is a bit harsh and not compliant over bumps.

Actually, I haven't noticed any more harshness at all. Actually I think it feels stockish, new stockish ... which very few people here can actually remember.

It does take a lot of work though. Worth it IMO.

I bought brand new front control arms (with ball joints) and new rear control arms and installed the poly set in them. Stock were just too rusty and ugly.

But plan on replacing every bolt in the rear for sure. There are very few people who get them out in 1 piece.


I'm on the Prothane red master kit.

If you use of a hydraulic press to facilitate the bushing replacement, and the idea of removing all the control arms is "piece of cake", then it's not a huge deal to do.

If you are leery of disassembling the entire suspension, or have no plan for how to replace the bushings once the control arms are out, it will be a major pain.

i would only replace the bushing if you are forced to (due to wear) or if it is your last suspension upgrade (springs, shocks, camberplates, sway bars done)

The "Kit" sounds like an inexpensive upgrade, but with the work involved & the extra pieces you WILL need it's not the "bargain" it looks like.

I'm replacing all my struts in the near future. My front control arm bushings are pretty torn. I do have access to a press and tools. That said, its worth it considering front LCAs are pretty enexpensive.
