before i do the install i want to make sure im not going to need the camber bolts.... i only want to lower about an inch.... do you think im going to need the camber bolts and do you think toe is going to go way out of spec????? im trying not to go too low to where im going to need to spend more than i already have on extra parts just to get it to line up right,,,hence why im only going for 1 inch drop.

You can drop 1.5-2 easy. Camber will be present but nothing crazy. No bolts or arms needed. Lower than 2.5 and the rear would need arms or bolts. Very simple.

Also, your toe will be out of whack no matter what. An alignment is necessary unless you want your tires to last a few months at a time.

thanks for the quick response. i know how to adjust front toe...but rear....ive searched and vaguely get the idea....can you clearify for me...basicly how would you do it..... not looking to go to the shop....in my are they are all known for fudging the measurments and not touching the rear

Lower a car one inch with coil overs good luck with that. I say the 1.5"-2.75" lowering is more like 2.25" to 3+" depending on brand. My H&R coil overs are lower than my 2" lower springs I used to have in the front at full height.

I wouldn't worry about camber at all. I have around 2 degrees front camber and a little less than that in the rear with no wear issues from my tires.

i was reading in a post on here that there is essentric bolts to adjust rear toe....... i dunno. only 1 inch for now untill i can save enough money for 4 new control arms and all the proper stuff to align it...i got a sweet deal on the coilovers from a fellow fanatic and my current suspension is tired and includes a broken rear spring

Your wrong actually... (common misconception) toe arms do help in cars responsiveness though and does make it easier to adjust..

Most Foci are delivered from the factory with generous amounts of (e.g. too much)negative rear camber.....especially 1st gens. Most need a camber adjusting devise even when NOT lowered. That said, you would be wise to at least install/use camber bolts in the rear. They're a cheap solution that works.

No shims nessasary. Its all about the toe adjustment= do the rear 1st & then the front & make sure the steering wheel is straight when done. I like +0.10toe per side for the rear & zero for the front on stock bushings.[thumb]
