: Problems installing Rear Anti Sway Bar

Hello all. So I have come to an interesting problem. I bought a Progress Auto 25mm Rear Anti-Sway Bar - All fine and dandy, right? Well wrong. When I went to unbolt the bolts that hold on the "U" brackets, the three tack welds that hold those nuts onto the bracket broke. So the bolt and nuts broke all the way off. I have managed to get both the bottom ones off, one buy painfull turning it, and one by cutting the bolt. We tried to get the sawzall up into the area to cut the top bolts, but there's just not enough clearance. It may be possible to get a hand hack saw up there, but first I don't own one and second, that is a lot of work.

First question: has anyone else ever run into this before? What did you do to resolve it?

Also, the Progress kit comes with new "U" brackets, but the installation instructions show to reuse the old oem ones. Is there any reason why I can't just use the new ones? It looks like if I were to use the old ones they would have to slip over the new ones, i.e., both sets would be on there.

TL;DR: The tack welds that hold on the nuts that the "U" bracket bolts screw into broke because of rust; how do I get the top ones separated?
