: Why do you love your focus so much?
spacegravity4me 09-27-2012, 10:27 AM Why do we like these cars? Why? I don't know what happened to me. I never wanted a focus to begin with but one was given to me and I've kinda had this thing for them ever since. I can't explain it. It's not the best little car in world but it's fun to drive and it's got some kind of charm to it. Maybe I have an underdog syndrome or something. I can't think of another car in this price range that would really appeal to me. Everything else either feels over done or uninspired. There's just something about a focus. What is it?
elsolo 09-27-2012, 10:44 AM I don't know why, it's just something that happens after you drive them.
matmatician 09-27-2012, 01:27 PM I love mine because it's a great looking car! That's why I bought it. After looking for weeks at cars that a broke college kid can afford, I chose it over Civics, Cobalts, and Corollas simply because the others look so blah! The focus has some styling, and that's something I can't say about any of the other cars I mentioned.

Funny, cuz now you drive a car that is high maintenance, moody, expensive to keep happy, and never tells you what's really wrong! [hihi]
(Speaking for VW's reputation in general, no idea if your GTI is the same)
FLYLOW 09-27-2012, 03:41 PM I always did! since the zx3 came out... i remember the 1st one i saw was a yellow zx3 with bike racks... i fell in love (i really dont know why) i almost got a dark grey zx3 before getting the M-Xrs but now i finally have a svtf

^Truth.
TBH, because I can't afford anything else.
When I bought the car I had criteria for a car. I wanted brand new, I wanted a hatchback, I wanted a 2 door, I wanted a 4 cylinder.
I was planning on getting a Honda Civic. But 2000 was the last year of the body I was dead set on. While looking at them I had seen a Focus ZX3. Started researching them, what modifications were out there. I decided I could live with it. There wasn't the aftermarket like there was with a Honda, but I thought that would grow over time and as more people got to know the workings of the car it would flourish. Sadly that really didn't happen as I thought it should have.
I'm very happy with the car. I'm happy that I've found ways to eek more power from it on the cheap. So much so that I bought a second one.
I regret buying the car because the day I drove it home I found the exact Civic I wanted. But there was no going back. The paperwork was signed and I was going to live with it.
I would say the community has made owning the car better, but the community hasn't changed much at all over the years. The way it is right now is just how it was in the beginning. It's a good community, just hasn't really progresses or become too innovative. I kinda think some of that has to do with the site itself and it's limitations on what you are able to share without worrying about people making fun of you or jumping on your back. It does keep a calm herd though.

Focusblackzx5 09-27-2012, 07:39 PM Had a 2003 sedan SE (2011-2012) first car
Now a 2005 zx5 SES (2012-????) second car
want a 2010 Coup SES (in 5-6 years maybe :P)
I love this car, the hatch trim is unique (00-07). Matrix, Vibe, Astra, all look the same, boring to drive, but the Focus is different, sportier looking and so much fun to drive !
Twenty 09-27-2012, 07:51 PM 'cause it's bright freakin' yellow and is a stick. [:)]

I
these are why i got it. I wanted a hactchback, and I didnt want to be like the millions of golfs and civics out there.
plus it helps that there were $5500 is factory incentives at the time (i bought an 04 after the 05s came out and they were trying to clear stock)
RedComet 09-28-2012, 03:55 AM All really good cars have an ineffable quality to them that makes their owners love them and appreciate what they do, even when there are other cars (maybe even for not a whole lot more money) that flatly outclass them.
My 2012 SE Focus is fun to drive, reasonably quick for what I paid for it and its size, comfortable, and stylish. It definitely doesn't blend in, and it isn't a 'motoring appliance'. You just don't get that joie de vive and driving experience out of a new car these days for that kind of money, in a car I can still fit music equipment, groceries, and road trip stuff in easily.
04SVTZX5 09-28-2012, 06:13 PM I had a 2000 SE (1st Focus) Great car.
2nd Focus is a 2002 ZX5. Still have it 200K miles. SVT susp/wheels
3rd Focus was a 2004 SVT ZX5. Should of kept that one. Blue
4th Focus is 2011 SES. Wife's car. Great ride. Blue
5th Focus is a 2013 ST. Black. Oh what a ride. Its awesome.
I am a diehard Ford guy and have had great luck with My Focus vehicles.
Also a Cobra and Lightning guy too. Cobras-93,93R,95R,03,04. Lightnings 95,00,04.
My next ride will be either a LS Boss or GT500 next year. Have not decided yet.
UnbridledCarnage 09-28-2012, 07:07 PM first was an 07 sedan and 2nd is my 03 zx3
i love people asking me "why" why mod a focus? its a grocery getter, its a family car, its a "girls car" (no offense ladies) you dont see them every day modded, and NO ONE expects ANYTHING it does! thats why i love it!
pasta 09-28-2012, 07:08 PM its like a new women everytime it always and still excites me
cbr1100xx 10-02-2012, 11:04 PM I don't know. I just really like my '10. Put a Steeda shifter in there and SVT springs/shocks and for 12,400 (w/just under 22K mi when I got it)......it's a lot of fun for not much money. And it's comfortable and has everything I need. And it's American. :)

I like mine because it's by an American company, assembled in Michican, and doesn't take a back seat to anything in its class. It's more inspired, fun to drive, and it's a car for which I don't mind spending money on preventative maintenance, because I actually want to be driving it in ten years.
I can't say that about any other car I've driven...I knew I would eventually tire of them. Not this one.
