: Post your rota grid setup
nascaracing17 09-13-2012, 11:07 AM im about to get a set of rota grids at a decent price. however thery are staggered 16x7, 16x5. i have an svt which has a 17" wheel stock. i would just like to see wat you guys are running as far as tire sizes go? for example, should i run the same size tire on both wheels. should i run a thicker sidewall to keep my speedo correct or a lower profile tire? Should i get a little wider tire for the front? so basically please just help me out by posting a pic of your focus and just let me know what wheel and tire size your running. thanks guys
nascaracing17 09-13-2012, 11:11 AM idk wats goin on lol my FF messed up lol
Geezer 09-13-2012, 02:25 PM Why would you want to use 16x5" wheels. There's no decent tire size that will fit those wheels without a degradition in performance/handling. In my opinion you're making a good handling car worse with that wheel size. A stock size 205/50-16 would be pinched pretty bad on a 5" rim. Normally people who go with 16's on an SVT use 16" alloys from other foci for snow tires or they go for wider rims to use race rubber and reduce rotating mass. A narrower rim makes no sense to me.

This ^^
nascaracing17 09-13-2012, 02:27 PM because the person im buying them from has two 16x7 and two 16x5 and he only wants 175 for all four. so the question is why wouldnt i? plus the 16x5's will be on the back so very little performance will be lost. and its not like i track the car anyhow
Buickboy 09-13-2012, 06:11 PM I wouldnt get all defensive over it, Geezer is right. 5" just doesnt make sense for anything but trying to go for the drag racing look with skinnies on the back and slicks up front (even then why bother)
now, if you can find two proper sized grids to match thatd be great
indy_11 09-13-2012, 08:09 PM lol i know the wheels he's talking about.

You'd probably be better off with the 5s on the front. The rear suspension setup is why our car handle so well in the first place. You will lose handling performance with them no matter what though. Listen to geezer when it come to suspension. He definitely knows what he is talking about.
Geezer 09-13-2012, 09:01 PM To be more specific....there really isn't a tire that will fit a 5x16" wheel that is an appropriate diameter for a SVT.
Yes, you got a good deal price wise, but I'm guessing that's because of the usability of the 5" wide wheels.
rambleon84 09-14-2012, 09:15 AM Buy the set and then try to find two other 16x7's to match, try to unload the two 16x5's?
Less than 100 for each Grid is a good deal, try offering 150 just for the two 16x7's...Then just keep your eye out for two more 16x7's
nascaracing17 09-14-2012, 09:33 AM well i wanna start off by saying sorry for sounding defensive. lol . my bad. i was just saying that they are extremely cheap so obviously im goin to get them. now if it were up to me... ya 5inch wide wheels are not even an option lol but like i said its what im being delt right now. as far as tire size goes couldnd i run close to the same size tire on the back even though its a skinnier wheel. i know that sounds dumb but i know all the vw guys run stretched tires that are skinnier then the wheel so couldnt i do the opposite. i dont reallyi know thats why im asking. and once again thanks for all the input. im surprised not as many people are running these wheels though. i expected to see more pics
macdiesel 09-14-2012, 05:50 PM Here is an old pic. I thinks these are rota grids

YellowJellyBean 09-14-2012, 07:54 PM There aren't many Rota wheels out there in 4x108 other than Slip Streams and RBs.

A pinched tire has far less lateral stability than a stretched one. Example, a tire could conceivably roll over on itself (or cause rear end sway) under cornering loads.
Nettalp 09-19-2012, 01:16 AM Any Grids with concave and 18's?
