Has anyone ever done a body swap on a focus? My car is pretty rusty and I found a body shell for 500 dollars that's the proper color and year. I was thinking of just changing all the parts over to that rust free body instead of all of the costs involved in fixing what i have. Just an idea for now and wondering if anyone's ever done something similar.

Personally, I dont think it worth it. 5 days?...maybe... if you know what your doing... I would just fix what you have.

Just for the heck of it= hit up a body shop & see what they say for repairs. They are 1/2to 2/3rds less for their labor rate compared to a mechanic shop. Up here shop rates are 125.+ & B/S are 48. to 52. hr.

Guy told me that to redo the rockers would probably be several thousand dollars to cut off the old and weld on the new plus paint.

Is rust a normal problem down in LA? I dont hear about southerners having issues with rust often...

No man, I put myself into this situation. The car originally came from Maine. I thought I could deal with the rust before it got really bad.

Its not too hard. Took me 2 days by myself to completely strip an svt. Just be prepared for vibrations because after you take out the interior it always rattles when it goes back in. And a tip: Use labeled sandwhich baggies for all your bolts. You will thank yourself later.

2 days to strip - Did you transfer it all to another car? I doubt it. No way can it be easier to transfer everything to another shell. You will wish you never did. To me, its like moving to another house because you dont like the carpeting in the first one. LOL

I know right. It's crazy that it'd be cheapest thing though. Lol
Sent from my HTC Vivid in orbit around Pluto. (Which is still a freaking planet btw! Dern kids gonna grow up talkin bout how we only got 8 planets. I ain't tryin to hear that. Stupid kids.)
If you do that, make sure you register the VIN of the new shell with the DMV, and file a document stating the old shell VIN was scrapped.

in that case would it even legally be considered an ST anymore?
