everything will transfer over with ease. All of those parts are interchangeable.

Oh So Focus'd
08-29-2012, 01:13 PM
So its as simple as get the bumber and headlights and there go on with ease? Or does the hood need to be changed as well?

Why bother? They look almost exactly the same.

The 05-07 front ends look better than the 00-04.

I always considered doing it to mine, but I was more interested in doing an SVT swap.

The 05-07 look very similar to a Ford Mondeo just smaller. I like the look of the bumper and grille, just never cared for the headlights. To the OP, you should browse through the showroom to see what other people have done and grab some ideas. What you should do first is a drop, then find a nice set of wheels. Many people on here have some of the cleanest Foci you will ever see. For the most part all they did is drop it and some clean OEM+ mods too. IMO there are 3 standouts for the best sedans ever.

To do SAP you will need to convert it to an 05-07, Ford didn't make an SAP for 00-04.

It's my favorite bumper on the focus, with the exception of the SVT.

The price difference between the last two is going to be $800 plus. And you will have to make changes to your bumper support with the last one as well. If you look at the turn signals you will notice the difference in the two. I think the real RS collection front bumper new from BAT cost around $1300 for the complete kit. So in my opinion, I would go with the one that ED sells. I mean, who outside the Focus world can tell the difference anyways right? lol

I know there is a difference, so bad example I guess. Still Nickgt40's car is one amazing car, I wish I could get a real one like he has. Sadly unless I find a good deal, I can't get it. But I am still debating on keeping my DTM anyways

zetecDon
08-29-2012, 05:39 PM
Yeah, those bumpers are extremely over priced if you ask me. I have one myself but I didn't pay nearly that much for it. Plus finding one used with all the right pieces is a pain in the ass also. That's why I said he would be better off getting the replica one from ED. Even with all the parts he would have to source and get the bumper painted the cost would still be no where near the cost of the real RS bumper.

There's a forum member with a liquid Grey hatch that is dropped, and tinted and has an sap front, Roush sideskirts and euro rear. Looks absolutely sick.

Might also depend on the color too I dunno. For some reason I don't like them in black as much.

There's just not a lot of choices for 05-07 as far as bumpers go.

I stay stick with what you have, its a lot of work, for little gain. Unless you have some MAJOR other mods planned, its probably not worth all the work for a stock looking car.

I assume you mean go-fast mods?

Some people like to have a car that stands out, whether it goes fast is almost irrelevant. Where are places to go fast without getting into trouble besides the tracks? If you building a car to race at the tracks or to auto-x, looks aren't really all that important, it's all about the times.

I love to drive a car that stands out, and it performs just fine for me. Still I am on the fence about actually going all out with engine mods, kinda pointless for a DD don't ya think?

just my .02, so for now I will stay all show no go

I have zero problems doing mostly cosmetic mods.

I'm sorry but it takes serious money to make our cars fast. So much money that in most cases it's far better to start off with a different platform to begin with. You could easily spend thousands of dollars on these cars and still get walked by a bone stock sti.

Don't get me wrong, I have all kinds of respect for people that build for performance on the focus. But don't try to tell me that exterior mods aren't worthwhile.... Especially after I've seen people drop hundreds of dollars for a few measly hp gain.

On SVT performance i found a whole SVT focus with 1700 miles on it for $3,000 parting out. But with the SVT motor and tranny and suspension ect...Its only putting out 170 hp. I was talking to this guy who put out over 500 HP out of my model car. But he said the amount of money he put into it he couldve afforded an Audi S4. Im not saying im looking to go Audi. But i do want a car that looks nice,Is mine(No payments lol) And still has some power behind it. Thats where i run into the factor of selling this car and getting something new and more power. Im considering going 2000-04 mustang GT with the 4.6. They come stock 310 and look hot. Or a WRX. But for some reason, i think of it, and it makes sense. But Than i look at my car and i wanna keep it. If i was to go any other car id go AWD for winter/rain ect... But theres no options out there besides really a WRX. Evo's are way too much and legacy's run your insurance up through the roof. Its like i cant win....[mecry]

pyroinsa
08-30-2012, 09:05 AM
Meh. Just drop a small-block V8 into it(yes, it will fit) make it rear wheel drive. Honestly I think you could do that cheaper than buying an SVT motor, doing the swap, and upgrading SVT motor.

Oh So Focus'd
08-30-2012, 09:06 AM
The WRX is going for like 7,000 or 8,000 on craigslist. And if i sold the focus id only get 2,000 at most. Thats another thing, No matter the money i put into this car, Im never gonna get a decent profit from it because its still just a focus[?|]

Oh So Focus'd
08-30-2012, 09:10 AM
Love the car, Has look potential. Possibly motor potential as well. But not until i drop a couple grand into it. And with that money i could sell it and use that money for something that has the HP i want stock.

pyroinsa
08-30-2012, 09:10 AM
Thats another thing, No matter the money i put into this car, Im never gonna get a decent profit from it because its still just a focus[?|]

That's with any car. You can't expect someone to pay a higher price for an EVO that's been heavily modded. If a person could afford to buy modded EVO, then they could also afford to mod it how they want. It also affects the value because modded cars are thought to be driven hard, ruins warranties, etc. "Ask any racer, any real racer" lol when it's time to sell, the car gets parted, and put back to stock.

Oh So Focus'd
08-30-2012, 09:15 AM
Yeah. But i want at least 300 hp. Its either i go with the same motor i have now, ford probe gt head and go from there... Or get the SVT package and get 170 and go from there. Than comes injectors, cams, heads(maybe)intake, exhaust, supercharger or turbo,BAMA tune(if SVT) or just power chip. Just alot and to get 300Hp.....

For $4,000. The motor would run me around a grand with the tranny(watching how many miles are on it) Than the computer, wiring harness,Just everything that comes with doing a swap... all that = alot of money

pyroinsa
08-30-2012, 09:25 AM
So you could do an SVT motor swap for cheaper with all that you plan to do to it? How much can you get the motor and trans for? To turbo an SVT will run $3000 new possibly $1500 used then a tune $400, etc.

Oh So Focus'd
08-30-2012, 09:27 AM
Motor,tranny,suspension,rims,axle,exhaust...$1700 with only 24,000 miles.

Tune, better clutch to handle the power, upgraded fuel injectors, lsd to be able to hook up....

Once you factor in all your costs, and including the little stuff you didn't think about, and you are easily looking at $5k not including all the time needed to install. And that's not including mods needed to support serious boost. The SVT engine can handle quite a bit of boost, but at some point even that engine needs to be built up. Used is cheaper, but then you have to worry about wear and tear on the turbo.

And forget a v8 conversion. To do it right is pretty expensive and very labor intensive. Not to mention completely messing with your suspension and handling capabilities. The only thing "focus". On V8 Foci are pretty much just the shell.

Even the "cheapast" power adder, nitrous, is a grand to do it right (ie bottle warmer, wot switch, rpm Window switch, etc)

Again, I think it's awesome when people put so much money and dedication into these cars. But go mods are just not for me. For my financial situation dropping $1,000.00 for 20 hp just doesn't make sense, and so if you are gonna do it, go FI and be prepared to spend lots of money and time, also don't get mad when stock cars still beat you.

Oh So Focus'd
