Seriously doubt that thing is any better than any other of the chips off of you Ebay you can get. If it did work then the market would be flooded with cheap tuning alternatives. Trust me it's a waste of money.

Oh no doubt, and that used to be back in the day with the SCT chips. They had a switch on them where you could switch between tunes just like what you want. Sadly though that was outdated tech and now we use flashers that completely flash the ECU. As far as I know there is nothing like that for the focus anymore. I do know that big trucks can with the tuning devices they have for those and other flashers that can do that, but I don't know of any that work with the focus and are tunable by our leading tuners. Then there is the issue of you being in the UK. I have no idea what you guys do for tuning over there. Why don't you check out Pumaspeed I know they tune and make performance parts and are located where your at. Surly they would be the tuner for you over there and would have a better answer to what devices you can use for what you want.

I don't know how much it is, but tuning, or I should say real tuning isn't cheap. You gotta pay if you want play. I only said them cause I don't know of any tuners over there. Here in the states the two major tuners of the focus are Tom and FSWerks or that's who we mostly use. There are others but these are the main ones. The cheapest those options cost is 399.99 minimum.
How much is it by the way?

The ad is false to begin with.
MFG.'s know full well where a vehicle will be sold and it is programmed according to local emissions standards; which includes the quality of fuel used in that country. English programming of a Focus is different than that of a US spec Focus.
Now, it reprograms the car through the ODB port, real skeptical on this one. Ford's require a Pulse Width Modulated signal (voltage) to access the ROM; and the ones most people find are only to read PID data. There is another set of voltages required to reprogram the ECU, or to get the ECU to read from a different ROM. The people who know how to implement reprogramming the ECU don't share that info, it is proprietary.
Then there is the issue of how fast data can be transferred along the SCP bus through the OBD port. The more data that is being transferred the slower the speed will be. The ebay seller makes it sound like their chip has a complete map that is being fed to the ECU. This will not and can not be the case. The amount of data is too great to allow the car the run. So we have to assume that there are only a few parameters that are being sent. Then the question becomes, what parameters are being sent?
What it all boils down to is that it's a harder way to go about the old IAT hack than is necessary, but with reason. That reason is to fool the buyer into thinking they are getting a valuable piece of hardware at a good price. In reality you aren't. You're just paying more for something that can be done for 1/10the the cost.
I will reiterate the fact that you have to pay to play. A good tune/tuner is worth the cost. They have training and experience to back up their work. They have customer support to address your concerns and help re-tune if necessary. They will also stand behind their work.
