: Want to Buy a ZX3, need info.
Blue_Night 11-07-2004, 01:16 PM Hi, Im looking to buy an ZX3 used, can somebody tell me what are your imputs on this car?
Performance, handling, cargo room [how much weight can I put in it?]
what are some performance Mods that I could get for it? CAI, etc...
Thanks...
Kicknzx3 11-07-2004, 01:25 PM first, welcome to the forum. second...please look around for performance mods. a simple click into the performance sections will solve that.
what yr and models r you looking for? sedan, zx3, zx5 svt?
Blue_Night 11-07-2004, 01:30 PM ZX3 any year. I actully looking at the ZX3, ZX5 or Toyota Matrix, but the ZX3 has a cheaper insurance, I weel be put in some cargo in the car. and teh ZX3 is cheaper used thant the other 2 cars.
Kicknzx3 11-07-2004, 01:45 PM stay away from the matrix if ur tall...heh, its not a fun car but has a cool interior.
we have had a couple hundred lbs in the back of my buddies focus while traveling and being lowered it never bottomed out. its a great handling car but lacks performance stock...enough for daily driving but certainly needs to be modified :).
Blue_Night 11-07-2004, 04:08 PM Cool, I actually need the car to work and to take people around. I don’t want a big car; I have found ZX3 for a bit more than $5K. I will be caring boxes and magazines I'm not sure how much weight would be but some days I use my 87 Celica. I guess the ZX3 will do the job, as for performance The Celica has no more that 120hp I think so the 130 hp of the ZX3 will do, if not I can get some minor mods to improve it a bit.
DrkKnight614 11-07-2004, 04:24 PM Hey man welcome....well the ZX3 is a very good car and plenty of cargo room..but if ur going to be carring boxs and stuff maybe u shoudl look into a ZX5..the 4 door model..it will be alot easier to put and take out those boxes and if ur going to be caring people as well its easier for them to get in....but check both them out and see what u think is best..good luck
Blue_Night 11-07-2004, 04:54 PM I would love to get the XZ5 but $$ is the problem, Unless I find a ZX5 for cheap, I cant pay more than $200 a month, because I'm still paying my Stang but I'll have it in mind. I also need to check insurance wise.
I won’t be caring boxes and people at the same time. I work alone.
Thanks for all your inputs.
What are other difference between the ZX3 and ZX5?
beat3rfocus 11-07-2004, 05:07 PM 2 extra doors... most everything is the exact same.....
Blue_Night 11-07-2004, 05:13 PM How much should I expect to pay for a ZX3 or ZX5? I might get a 2000 or 2001. Any ideas? As for $$ and Mileage and what things should I check for in the car?
beat3rfocus 11-07-2004, 06:49 PM well if it is a 2000, check to see if the recalls were performed,, by a dealership. mileage should not be over 45-50k....i would hope, I don't think i would pay much more than 6k for a 2k2..or around 5k for a 2k1....I would get a zx5 if i were you. Getting people into the rear of the zx3 becomes a pain...Thats all i can think of right now...
DrRay 11-08-2004, 01:00 PM My advice: avoid 2000-01 model years. Tons of problems, only some of which are fixed by recalls. I've seen them as low as $CDN6000. while the 02's hold at $CDN12K.
Zx3 is lighter, faster than ZX5. More Zx3 mod parts. While the ZX3 seats are really poorly designed for rear entry (what were they thinking?), 95% time the rear seats are not used unless you have kids.
Stalllion_25 11-08-2004, 01:18 PM Stick with the ZX3. I have one myself, and im constantly putting boxes in and out of the car containing iron and steel cut plates. I try not to load it up too much, but you'd be surprised how much you can actually fit in thatlittle car...the trunk is nice, and don't forget you can always fold the seats down. Goodluck...
Oh yeah, get a clutch
2000FordFocus 11-08-2004, 03:12 PM why not consider a wagon! it can look really cool too if you put a set of cool rims!
prototypepacifist 11-08-2004, 03:50 PM Get the ZX3 with the 60/40 split seats. You'll be able to fit all kinds of stuff in there if you fold the seats down. Hellacious amounts of room for such a small car.
If you want to drive people around, I can usually fit 5 people in mine comfortaby, depending on the size of the people. 5 average size people fit greatly, though.
