because that's what I've heard rumors about from my dad (works in ford's dearborn prototype development) in regards to what SVT is coming back with after the 2005 year off
jevoe015 11-05-2004, 02:55 PM it kind of pisses me off that I bought an 04 SVT july 1st now that I see that. I'm so selling it the second that drops
bowersdaazian 11-05-2004, 02:56 PM i like everything except the rear. But i guess with 280 bhp and AWD, i wouldnt mind at all.
hotfocus 11-05-2004, 02:57 PM Great find jevoe015...that is one hot car.
Moving to Gen Car chat.
SVT4ME 11-05-2004, 02:57 PM Misleading title, I thought I was going to crap my pants because inside would be the revelation that we've all been hoping for, that Ford really is going to build a new SVT Focus. Ford has stated time and time again that they have absolutely no plans and zero interest in bringing the new Euro-platform Focus to the United States. It's been suggested that in 2008-9 Ford will switch the U.S. to that platform but I just read the other day that Ford may not even do that, but instead will *continue* to use the 2000 design beyond the year 2008. Wouldn't surprise me if Ford kept "refreshing" the current Focus platform for many years, after all it only took them something like 25 years to finally release a completely new design of Mustang that's not based on the old Fox platform from the 1970's.
For now if you want the Euro-based Focus platform, you have to buy a Mazda 3 or a Volvo S40/V40 (or move to Europe).
ouikikazz 11-05-2004, 03:01 PM is this the same ST thats suppose to utilize the 5 cylinder 2.5L volvo motor? or is it something different?
also if the ST is 280hp AWD, then whats the RS edition gonna bring us? HMMM
microtonal 11-05-2004, 03:01 PM It's a nice thought but I doubt Ford will ever bring anything like that over here.
I mean Ford doens't even offer engine upgrades for the new 500 and the Focus ST is kind of middle of the road performance car.
As long as Ford has the Mustang, I don't think they are going to make a car that will over shadow their trademark performance car.
the new focus do not use the euro platform but we have the same engine...
so it wouldnt be so hard to see that in an us focus

now the mustang have over 300 hp and have great performance potential
so NOW with the new mustang i can see a car like that here....

Not if Ford is going to use the oddball 5-cylinder Volvo engine in the European model. All I was saying is that this thread was a BIG disappointment because the title makes it sound like "holy crap I just saw the official news that there will be a new SVT Focus in 2005/2006" when in fact it's about a RUMOR that MAYBE Ford will use this Euro ST here as an SVT model.
BTW I think it's butt ugly. There's no way I'd give up mine for that, I don't care how fast it is. That's the same reason I contemplated trading the SVT for an SRT-4 and then decided not to, sure it's fast but you look like a dork.
oneill8769 11-05-2004, 03:18 PM (dies). if they bring that thing here to the states, my ass is camping for as long as it takes over at the nearest ford dealer so i can get my hands on that.
jevoe015 11-05-2004, 03:26 PM lolz @ kids who take hearsay from magazines over hearsay from fords prototype development at their corporate headquarters in dearborn
only time will tell kids, but i have a feeling my 04 SVTF will be for sale in about a year
jevoe015 11-05-2004, 03:27 PM even if it's not that powerful, the body style alone I think is worlds more attractive than the current focus, those lines are pure sex and the steeper angle on the hatch makes for the most attractive profile i've seen in the sports compact scene ever.
jevoe015 11-05-2004, 03:28 PM i think my favorite thing about it though, is that the front end bears a striking resemblance to australia's ford performance vehicles typhoon GTP, which has always been an obsession of mine
SVT4ME 11-05-2004, 03:28 PM I'm older than you [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)], I don't care what your daddy says either. Please stop telling me that your dad is right about every rumor he hears, it's getting old.
And LOL at "kidz" who don't know how to use the edit button and instead post three remarks in a row. [rolleyes]
jevoe015 11-05-2004, 03:46 PM lolz @ people who think age is somehow a gauge on anything in here, and lolz @ old guys who think that someone designing a car and working with the corporate headquarters don't hold more clout than magazine editors ;-)
only time will tell chump, til then learn a thing or two. ford employees in prototype development are in the know more-so than magazine articles, I'm working with first rate information and you're working with 4th rate. figure it out, chump
SVTmonkey 11-05-2004, 03:53 PM ^^^^^[rofl]
SVT4ME 11-05-2004, 03:53 PM Oh somebody's feelings are hurt aren't they? Yeah, I'd much rather get information from, for example, a 13 year old kid rather than a college graduate twentysomething. Age, yeah, what does that tell you? The FACT is, you came right out and said it was a RUMOR. It doesn't matter where the rumor came from, it can come out of your ass for all I care, it's still a RUMOR. Your thread title doesn't say "this COULD be the next SVT" it says " 2005/2006 Svt Holy [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]**" which as I said before is misleading. Magazines sometimes report rumors, but they don't make bold claims based on them (not the good ones anyway).
Let me see if I can explain this better: your thread title is like the equivalent of a newspaper having a headline that reads "JOHN KERRY WINS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN A LANDSLIDE!!" only to have a byline that reads "in the results of an online poll questioning non-U.S. residents who they would vote for."
SVTmonkey 11-05-2004, 03:56 PM haha, that's awesome...SVT4ME is right, the title was very misleading, and I too don't care where the information came from, it's hearsay and even up top things could change drastically...none of us know whether there will be something similar offered here...if it is it wouldnt be for a long time...so keep it in your pants....
hotfocus 11-05-2004, 03:57 PM Don't ruin this thread...if you guys want to argue then take it to PM. Then make a post in on another Focus site and let them know who wins.
jevoe015 11-05-2004, 03:58 PM Oh somebody's feelings are hurt aren't they? Yeah, I'd much rather get information from, for example, a 13 year old kid rather than a college graduate twentysomething. again bringing up age, as if your 4.5 years has offered you such a superior advantage in knowledge ;-) and we're both twentysomething college graduates. what do feelings have to do with any of this? sorry jackass, keep running your mouth but I'll take the word of prototype development designers and engineers over your magazine editors that tell you it's not happening until maybe 2008. hopefully so will anyone else with half a brain.
and your attempt at analogy tells us you need to head back to school and take a few more english classes =/

Sorry but you've just earned yourself a locked thread for being so persistent. I don't blame SVT4ME for bringing up the age issue...you act like a 10 year old.
