Hello fello ff members, me again with another question about a wheel and tire combo.
before someone starts getting on me about searching the forum, i have. i found something, but began to factor in that my car has slightly wider wheel wells than the previous generation of foci. I really don't know if anyone can help me with this issue, and but I figured I'd give it a try.
The wheel in question has an offset of 45. The tires that would fit and be slightly taller (like a half an inch taller) would be 225/40R18's. so my question is will it rub? or would the safer bet be to get 215/40R18's?

offset is important but wheel width is as well. 7", 7.5", 8", 8.5"?
I like to use this when looking at different combos: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Say blueflow94 is your foci lowered & how much? As you see check the offset of the wheel. You could use the svt wheels spec's as a guide & go from there. Figure the overall section width & the measuring wheel width. A 215/ 40 is about 8.70'' section width on a 7.5'' wheel & 24.75'' od, while a 225/40 about 9.06'' s.w on a 8'' wheel w/ a 25'' od. The 215 is doing to be your best fit w/ the right off set wheel.Just saying= your ride is going to suffer being a 40 series tire & those tires don't take to pothole to well. If I were doing it, I'd go to discount tire & have them mount up a wheel that you like w/ a 225/ 40 to the front & check for rubbing on the strut. I'd see if I could fit a 225/40 in there. If not I'd go for a 215/45-17 then. I don't like the 215/40 for ride or potholes. You have to figure its a DD car, huh?

i haven't really measured, but i believe it's an inch lower than the frpp kit. but good info there. then again you always have good info so rep added. this is def a dd, so i don't really want to kill myself everyday but i still want something that looks good. think i'll just stay away from 18's for now. appreciate it!

Have you thought about the 17'' SVT wheels= there are some choice's too. I have been running the 6-spokers on my '05 st for yrs now. I wanted something different that the regular 5 spokers. It'd be great to have more tire on my car. If I went wider then the tire patch gets wider & shorter vs a longer & not so wide tire patch. meaning the tire contact patch on the road. How are your brakes? A great upgrade is SVT calipers & rotors w/ SS lines for the front. Even thou you may have drums on the rear. I see Baer brakes has a kit for drum brake foci's w/ 12'' rotors & you supply the calipers off a camero. The guy said I'd have to switch over to drum brake spindles & possibley the control arms too. I was calling to see if they still have a 12'' kit for rear disc cars.
