Some of the '12 guys are claiming low 20's and even teens. I don't know if it's hand calc or what, but they claim they are driving normally...[facepalm]

Better hide this thread deep or it will become an epic crying thread...

damn,26 is the lowest I got in my 2005 in the dead of winter. I am getting 31-33 now that it is hot out and I learned how to drive a manual tranny for mpg's instead of performance!![woot]

Hey, try this...

Fill up your car then leave it parked but running until the tank is empty -- then calculate gas mileage. I'm no mathematician, but I'd peg that at zero mpg!...

OK, not everyone will drain a tank just idling, but many spend long periods doing so -- cops, for example...

I went to the car dealer last Friday to pick up my license plates and like much the the country it was hot in SLC. When I get to the dealer there was a car parked in front with 3 salesmen in it and when I parked my car one got out to talk to me, you know, to see if I was looking to buy. The thing is, since they had to wait outside as part of there job and it was hot they were sitting in a car with the engine running so they could have AC. I'm guessing that car isn't getting much more than zero mpg....

Posted via FF Mobile Thats great for a new car, Im glad they are just fine with wasting fluids and gas and putting wear and tear on the car. Its hot, if I was the manager Id have them stay inside, one because Im not an azz, and two, who wants to talk to a dealer whos soaking wet with sweat because he was standing outside.

With about 1000 miles on the odometer I'm getting about 32mpg.
But considering that to get any power out of this motor you have to rev it above 4000rpm I can see why some owners mileage is so poor.

I should probably do that too.

Yeah, in the right hands it's still hard to beat a manual transmission for mpg. It does take a different approach than scooting around from stop light to stop light and is not something many younger drivers have the temperament for, but even if you prefer to "have fun" and wring it out from time-to-time it is useful to know how to get decent mpg.

Imagine you find yourself low on gas with a long ways to get to a gas station -- you could run it as normal and run out of gas or you could use better technique and make it to the station.
