: Procharger S/C?
Iarmeister 11-02-2004, 10:34 AM Hey all, as I'm exploring options about how I want to make my car go faster I contacted ProCharger about their new s/c kit for the svtf. They sent me their brochure, but also a letter saying their isn't an 'application for my car at this time'. Of course, they also included a picture of their project focus and an svtf on a dyno with a graph showing power #'s ranting and raving about their new 10psi pulley. What gives? Anyhoo...before I contact them directly, has anyone heard about when they PC will officially release their c-1 s/c app. for the svtf? I'd also be interested in hearing from folks who have it (if it's already out) what their thoughts are about it's daily drivability and street performance (like, for when stomping on the pedal to crush Honda's is a must) is.
Holla...
Iarmeister 11-02-2004, 01:38 PM Yea, I know that if I'm wanting to dust evos and sti's and srt4's Tom's Turbo is the way to go. I'm not entirely sure about what my budget will be come May when I start executing my well conveived plan (mwaaa-haa-haa!) of making my svtf quicker. I'll probably be able to afford Tom's Turbo. But, emissions in Cali are a real bee-otch, so that IS a concern. I also need to find a mechanic and garage that is reputable and whom I trust. Plus, my svtf is my only car at the moment, so it has to retain it's daily driver-friendlyness. I've looked at the jrsc and at vortech. Between those two, the vortech is more appealing bc of it's better power output. The jrsc is more appealing bc it's on Fords Racing Catalog, so I think it's more supported (guessing at this) by Ford.
I'm hoping to compare those s/c's to one another and narrow the field. Obviously, when it comes to Turbos, from what I've read on these boards, there's no need to compare -- Tom's is the ONLY way to go. And, based on folks testimonies here, I believe that to be true...
Still, just checkin' around to see what my options are...
BTW, do you know which thread Blox was on perhaps talking about the the Procharger?
Iarmeister 11-02-2004, 01:40 PM Did I also mention already that I'm in Cali? =) and =( at the same time!
PapoSwing 11-02-2004, 01:59 PM How much HP is that Procharger putting down on their SVTF project car?
I know the Procharger is not even out yet, but from what you guys have heard is it going to be as reliable as the JRSC?
blackandgold 11-02-2004, 02:05 PM Reliability should be pretty good. I could see a probability of belt slippage happening and also the Supercharger itself has to be maintained since you don't have to drill a hole into the block for oiling like you do with the Vortech. As far as the HP rating meister should give you that since he has the official brochure.
02quickie 11-02-2004, 03:28 PM Im looking at the procharger myself infact before i saw this thred i was on the phone with them.I have a zetec and live like 2 hrs away from where they make them so the way i look at it is they are close and i can get all kinds of support from them i also was given a # to reach a whole saler of it and they said they have installed about 5 of them and so far so good no problems at all the price i was given was $3559.60 for the full kit. Here are the hp tq #s i got from them 210 wheel hp @ 6200 and 184 tq @5200 and at 4600 175 this unit puts a pretty flat tq curve down. Heres the contact info i was given from pro charger MCracing 1-913-789-9888 i think his name was adam
wrcRS 11-02-2004, 04:33 PM I will be looking at the procharger option soon myself. For such a small amount of boost and the great racing background that Procharger has it will be interesting how this kit turns out.
Iarmeister 11-02-2004, 08:17 PM 210 whp and 184 tq...is that for the standard zetech or the svt tuned 2.0? Those aren't bad numbers at all if it's on the standard zetech block. I'd be super curious to see what the #'s would be for an svtf...
Also, thanks to svt tour for the #...completely far away from my 408 area code, but hey! If I like what I see, I'll give'em a holla...
=)
Yel900rr 11-02-2004, 10:46 PM I have 1 of the kits. We are doing ome testing with a 15 lb pulley. Let me know if I can help you out.
Iarmeister 11-03-2004, 12:02 AM Hey Yel', Would LOVE to know how that kit drives on your car. I'm looking not only for performance #'s, but also straight drivability comments. i.e. tranny upgrades? lsd installation? gas mileage..etc.etc...Also, which engine are you testing with a 15lbs. pulley? I know the svt engine is highly compressed, so if you're testing on a svt zetec how is it holding up under that much boost?
I know that's kinda tall order, but I'm really curious to see how this s/c holds its own against jrsc and vortech...
Holla...
Iarmeister 11-03-2004, 12:07 AM One more thang before I sign off for the night, and this is f.i. related. I know that sct just released a new program to flash the svt ecu, and Tom has his 'predator'-flasher (for lack of a better - and less rookie - term). Would you recommend re-tuning the ecu BEFORE installing any type of f.i. so that the starting baseline is better? Or, does it not matter bc once a f.i. kit is installed there is going to be necessary tuning to address anyway?
02quickie 11-03-2004, 08:34 AM Those #s are on a stock zetec in a ZX3 with a header and full exhaust. So ya those are real good #s

Shit yeah they are. I'm impressed. 230 hp shouldn't be too hard to achieve.
02quickie 11-03-2004, 09:16 AM I would think 240 might even be in reach with the right pully and tuning so im pretty stoked! I think i might drive their this weekend so i can put it in my hand and really get a look at how it would all hook up! If i do ill take a bunch of pics
punkdrummer18286 11-03-2004, 09:39 AM And plus the people at Procharger are really nice and very open to suggestions and comments. I live in the area and i was looking at a SC from them with my SVT but its not out yet, so i'll be looking to them with my cobalt SS for a supercharger upgrade. Let us know how everything goes!
Iarmeister 11-03-2004, 11:01 AM Please do post those pix when you have the chance. Definitely interested in seeing it. And, if they shed some light on what kind of #'s is to be expected at the wheels with a good tune, and even who they might recommend to tune it (sct?), that would be a kewl thang to post.
You got a cobalt ss? I'm actually one of those who don't hate on chevy, in fact, a friend of mine who's down with the bowtie company is the one who hooked me up with his sales mgr. buddy at Ford to get my svtf for a
schweeeet deal...=) how's the car?
Iarmeister 11-03-2004, 11:08 AM One other thang...I know we're throwing around 230 and 240 as possible whp fpr an svtf, but what about the tq #'s? I'm hoping for something somewhere north of 200ft/lb. 215 - 220 ft/lbs would be awesome! I think, at least for my purposes 240whp ~ 220ft/lb would be ideal. Maybe not enough for others here, but hey, different strokes, yea?
rfinger 11-03-2004, 11:19 AM i would just like some info that i could look at since the website has NOTHING even on their kit for the regular zx3
02quickie 11-03-2004, 03:53 PM found some pics and dyno chartsGO HERE (http://www.procharger.com/gallery/showtemp.php?market=5&...) !
Iarmeister 11-03-2004, 04:56 PM Cool pix and numbers. Like I said, I can't wait to see the specs on a s/c'd svtf.
Yel900rr 11-04-2004, 07:48 PM We are building a new engine for this. We are running 8.5 to1 pistons and we are looking to upgrade to 20+ lbs of boost. We will use the SCT or Diablo tuning. Either setup will work. We are using a standard Zetec not SVT.
rfinger 11-04-2004, 07:50 PM does anyone know any particular date on when procharget might offer a kit for the svt??
Iarmeister 11-05-2004, 05:28 PM Hey Yel',
Have you had a chance to compare sct's to the diablo tuning set-up? Is there one that Procharger recommends for their s/c, or are you preferring to choose on of your own tuning mgmts in liu of what procharger may (not) be offering as a base to for their s/c?
Yel900rr 11-05-2004, 06:41 PM The SVT kit is available now without tuning.
The Zetec kit comes with a Diablo Revolution chip. I can tune either the SCT or Diablo to do the same thing. I will tune my own car with one of these I am not sure which yet. I have both sets of tuning software.
Iarmeister 11-05-2004, 07:34 PM SVT Kit is available now w/o tuning...does that mean the s/c is SOLD w/o tuning, or no tuning is required? I think you mean the former, but just to clarify...
Also, since the svtf needs to be 'flashed' tuned, which tuning mngt would you recommend?
ZX3TUNR 02-07-2005, 06:26 PM The c-1 blower they use for the 10psi kit on the zetec is capable of doing max boost of 24 psi and max hp of about 325 so there is room for upgrading as long as you upgrade the zetec internals...
viney266 02-07-2005, 11:01 PM 900 rr, do you have it mounted on the car yet, or are you still building the motor??? I am seriously interested in this thing, but how low it looks worries me.
I talked to those guys out at SEMA and I like the kit, just ground clearence is an issue.. I need to get my butt up to your shop and check it out ( I live in Westminster MD.).. Are you open on Mondays??
ZX3TUNR 02-07-2005, 11:52 PM how low is your car?
I dont think the intercooler and such hangs to low. I been looking into this kit alot. If you mention Pro Charger to any of the hot rods guys they know what your talking about. I asked a few guys and they all said there stuff is super nice qaulity.
Here are some pics of the kit this guy bought for his Trans Am. The parts may differ a bit then the Focus parts but they look DAM good.

Also any one who is looking into buying it just to let you know the 42lb injectors are NOT included. They also offer a tuner kit witch is cheaper but that just means you need to do a custom ecu :)
The more I read about this kit the more I want to get it instead of the power works.
viney266 02-08-2005, 08:18 AM Don't get me wrong. I like their stuff, the quality looks nice . It is just the install on the focus puts the innercooler low
ZX3TUNR 02-08-2005, 08:22 AM Your right it does sit low but I dunno. I drive my car always carefull so it shouldnt be a prob. If you had a turbo you would still have to worry about something getting caught under the car and ripping your oil line going to the turbo out. I have see that happen.
A kit like powerworks or jrsc you dont have to worry about.
ZX3TUNR 02-08-2005, 07:11 PM Just an update. I put my order is for my Pro Charger kit today :)
viney266 02-09-2005, 12:40 AM Awesome!!! Let me know whats up as it goes along...VERY COOL!
ZX3TUNR 02-12-2005, 11:40 PM Yay update. 2 weeks and blower is here.
viney266 02-13-2005, 10:07 PM Very nice..Do you have a place to work on it?? Hope so, its gotta be cold up there
ZX3TUNR 02-13-2005, 10:25 PM Dont plan on putting it on till after April and all the snow melts since the car is parked till then anyway. Its actually been super nice here lately (20 farenhit - around there),
PapoSwing 02-15-2005, 09:30 AM Wow so many good things about the Procharger. Really good #'s coming out of the stock zetec. Can't wait till the SVT kit is ready and some good numbers are coming out of it.
I know we have been talking about Hypnotic's SCT tuning and how rewarding it is. Would this be a good tune for a Procharged SVTF?
ZX3TUNR 02-15-2005, 06:05 PM Im doing a custom SCT tune after to. Best route to go IMO.
viney266 02-15-2005, 11:44 PM That seems the way to go to me as well. ^^^^
BigJ12582 02-16-2005, 06:55 PM I thought the SVT alreadu came out?? I could have swore I called them and it was liek $3795 or something?? Correct me if I'm wrong?? I have a JRSC with a 9lb. pulley and water injection I'm waiting to put on but I'm still wondering about the procharger? Also u r nuts if 20 degrees Farenheit is pretty nice.
