So i was in my friends SRT on Saturday night and we were with the usual group goin to downtown KC to do some racing. Well we were on i think 435 goin towards Front St. and my friend in his SRT and the kid in the Cobra start to mess around and then they gun it from bottom of 3rd gear. Wow, goin up to 140 mph, they were dead even the whole time, it was the best race i've seen in a loooong time. Kids, thats why our focuses shouldn't mess with them lol, i've got much respect for a 4 cylinder thats stock that keeps up with a Cobra that has exhaust and a few other minor things. Still yet to see a FI focus that has impressed me (in person that is), seen a few ZX3's with a JRSC and they're nothin special, not a bunch of power, but damn, that SRT and the Cobra are monsters lol. But the guy with the Cobra just got a Procharger so he'll be gone with my friend come next week lol.

Bad thing is that the Cobra and the SRT both eat the same amount of gas. Was the Cobra a 2003-2004 or older model may I ask?

Yeah, actually my friends SRT gets 24 mpg in the city which isn't too bad! My SVT got 22-23 with no FI, but you guys should've been there, it was pretty awesome to watch, i was gonna bring my videocamera too but i forgot it! There wwas also a gun shooting and a guys truck get loaded with a shotgun (heard it, wasn't ANYWHERE near it lol) and a bunch of crazy ass bikers lol.

yeah, those cars are no joke. When Jessica and I took the SVT to the track last wednesday, there were about 10 SRT-4's out there. The slowest ran a 14.4 (musta screwed up cause he was wearing a helmet) and the fastest ran a mid 12. Pretty insane that the stock internals are good up to 500hp.

Yeah, the upgraded stages actually don't do a lot of damage, they're good for modding under warranty but after you stray away from the warranty is where the real power will come out with some new cams and whatnot, not sure if there is a tune out for the SRT4 yet though, me and my friend were just talkin about that...hmm...

Makes me kinda wish I bought an srt-4 instead of my GLI, but damn they really.... reallly... suck inside. They're cramped, plastic, and just.... tacky...

SRT-4 insurance sucks.

The stages do provide decent power, the stage 3 kit puts it into the mid 300's. Any more than that and you start to seriously jack up other parts that aren't made for the abuse, like axles and clutches.

350+ hp on a fwd car daily driven is a waste and pointless.

i agree totally with focal on this one. The other thing I am waiting to see is how well the cars hold up as they have only been out for 2 years. I want to see if reliability is gonna be a problem. I never really had much respect for Dodge especially after my wife got a brand new 1997 Dodge Neon and the engine had to be replaced after 3,000 miles. Might have been an isolated incident but many others have had the same problems. Needless to say she traded that in on a ZX2 in 1999.

Yup. I wouldn't mind at all having one as a second car, just to drive for fun looking for trouble, but I sure as hell wouldn't want one as my only car. Not only is it tacky, cheap, and ugly in there, but it's really not very comfortable for long periods of time. And I know, because I used to put anywhere from 6 hours to 10 hours seat time a day in a Neon. My butt hurts just thinking about it.

Oh crap i just noticed I opened a can of worms by calling the SRT-4 a Neon.[:(] Only a matter of time till the trolls come.

Are you calling me a troll? I didn't bash the SRT-4 or Neon either way other than to say a few things taken from my personal experience with the cars.

That doesn't take anything away from the fact that it (the SRT-4) is a fast car and I'm sure it would be fun as hell to be hanging with a Cobra in one.

Oh hell yeah it was! i'll tell ya that first hand!!! lol. But the dash is really the only thing that looks like plastic crap, the seats may not be really all that comfortable but damn do they work when you step on it, its like when you see a cartoon and they get sucked into the seat...yah, that except real life lol.

No No no You are not a troll SVT I was just pointing out the fact that many of the conversations that I have seen on here about the SRT-4 someone comes along like myself and just calls it a Neon and then all hell breaks loose.

LoL blackandgold your saying cracks me up, especially since you own a honda! Love it, but yeah, usually people get all upset because SRT's are called neons. I do it all the time and i love the car, but basically it is a neon with a bigger turbo'ed engine and shitty handling for the amount of power. If you turbo our SVT's, we have them on the autocross!

The SRT-4 wasn't made to be a handler, it was made to be a 1/4 car that can also be a good daily.

I still dont get how a high 13sec/low 14sec car could run with a modified car thats low 13's stock
