I'm planning on dropping the front crossmember on my 2001 ZX3 (Zetec w/MTX75) to make tranny installation less painful. The manual says to use a special tool (guide pins) when reinstalling. Has anyone done this? Could you somehow mark the crossmember to get around this? Or where can you buy these guide pins and how do they work? THANKS

Not sure if I'm in the right, but I didn't use guide pins when I dropped my subframe.

I didn't use guide pins. I just made sure I lined it up right and used my fingers to start the bolts to prevent cross threading, just like everything else.

Yeah, those are threads you don't want to strip out.
