: Opinions on what to do with my suspension...

Current setup on my 02 is Koni Yellow Shocks/Struts with H&R Race Springs. The Konis are getting up there in mileage and are needing replaced. Here is a couple options that I can do.

Option 1: Get the Koni Yellows rebuilt. Not sure how much that would cost.

Option 2: Take D2 coilovers off of my Kona and put them on the 02. Then put a SVTF suspension kit on the Kona. D2s have about 25k on them.

Option 3: Order a new coilover suspension. Not sure of what to buy if I go this route.

Option 4: Buy new Koni Yellows.

The 02 is a track/autocross car. Not the greatest thing for everyday driving. Any help will be appreciated.

New Coil-Overs would be my vote. KW Variant 3's. Separate adjustments for dampening and rebound, and a QUALITY piece of equipment. I'm running them on my car ('93 Mazda MX6 LS) and I love them. Wouldn't trade them for anything.

I don't know anything 'bout D2 coilover's, but like said above you can't beat K/W's. Tire rack had a 20% off sale a little while ago= that would have been the time to grab a set of Koni yellows. If the set up you have now for the track car works w/ Koni yellows & H&R springs why change them. You could figure out how much it cost to rebuild the koni's thou. Do you have a torsen? How's your clutch? Are you allowed to run different control arms= like CFM's one's? What brakes are you running? Stock size or bigger?

I've always been an advocate of the Koni Sport and HR Race spring combo. It's street tolerable, very good for autocross, and will allow you to have fun on the track. If that car is going to be used solely for autocross and the track you may want to consider stiffer springs, say something in the 500 lbs/in +/- range (primarily for the track but won't hurt for autocross use). You'll need a better (serious) damper as well such as a re-valved Koni or Bilstein.

The D2s are mostly for just going low. I have a Torsen. Running stock clutch and it feels fine. I couldn't tell you if I could different control arms or not. But my guess is that I can. Running a full SVT brake kit. With HP+ front pads.

They can probably tweak the damping for you to play better with the HR race too.

If you can run aftermarket control arms, Grab aset of CFM's tubular control arms= lighter weight, adjustable camber, & feels more positive. & add a set of toe links for the rear too.
