: Anyone run these Coilovers?
Tylermarshallll 05-17-2012, 12:56 PM So I talked to a member on here (aheroicrevolt) about how he had these on his sedan www.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FCOILOVER-FORD-FOCUS-MK1-ADJUSTABLE-SUSPENSION-%2F180875360632%3Fpt%3DUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM%26hash%3Ditem2a1d02f978%23ht_2979wt_1191
What do you guys think? Anyone have experience with these?
Thanks,
Tyler

Tylermarshallll 05-17-2012, 04:47 PM I was just throwing these out there, not saying im going to buy them. I contacted the seller about shipping, its 120£ for shipping. So with 175£ + 120£ your up to 290£ which would be $368.70

The hate is because that might not even be safe.
My ST coils cost $950. Worth every freakin penny. These things take abuse and I want them to hold up in the long haul.
Veetoe157 05-18-2012, 10:30 AM ^^^ what he said. Quality coilover kits aren't cheap for a reason, you get what you pay for. If you're ok with horrible ride quality and a product that won't last than go ahead and cheap out on it, otherwise, make the investment for a quality setup.
Geezer 05-18-2012, 11:08 AM While I'm always a bit cautious and dubious of low cost parts as well, the ad says these carry TUV approval. The Germans (TUV is a series of German engineering construction standards) do not give this certification away and it takes quite a bit of expertise to qualify for it. That alone says tells me these might be worth a try. The Racelands were cheap as well but surprised a lot of people with decent quality for the price.

The OP asked "what do you think?", I gave my response. If the OP would have asked what do you think of these coilovers that I want to get so I can slam my car and make the handling suck, I would have stayed out of the tread.

Lol how do u even know the ride sucks? U cant give an opinion with even trying it but ok be my guest I have this kit and so far good I don't like crapy rides and this setup it's settle so it rides far better than when I bought it

OK, first off, I can almost understand that reply, but anyway...
I said that the handling would suck. I said nothing about "ride", or as it's more often termed, "ride quality". Ride quality is completely subjective, and will vary widely between different drivers and passengers. I almost never comment on ride quality without displaiming "in my opinion".
Unpublished spring rates on no name dampers, and then you slam the car to the ground... your handling will suck. You won't have enough travel, who knows what your spring rates are, hard cornering puts you on the bump stops, you'll get massive positive camber gain, setup is way underdamped, etc., etc.
koke'sfocus 05-18-2012, 07:11 PM I didn't say the ride quality cause of u and about the rates I know the rate of the sprimgs r I went to ta technix website u can get all the info there and the ta technix aren't sold here in the states but they are in europe so maybe for u is a no name brand or not that popular when I took out my shocks that by the way are h&r they were thhhhhhhhe same height and about the camber issues I have spc camber plates ;) I did my research first offcourse

Ok, then why did you quote my post?
and about the rates I know the rate of the sprimgs r I went to ta technix website u can get all the info there
Went to their website, it is poor. They quote springs in kg, uh, ok, that's wrong. Spring rate is force-length.
that by the way are h&r they were thhhhhhhhe same height
Your H&R dampers were the same length, so what, what does that matter? Nothing.
and about the camber issues I have spc camber plates
That's nice. But I'm talking about dynamic camber, not static camber. If you slam a focus and the front control arms are pointing up, as the suspension goes through compression, your camber gains in the positive direction at a very high rate.
Oh, and try to write a real sentence sometime ;)
euro-bred 05-18-2012, 08:30 PM Wow, be nice... for the price and a two year warranty I'd say it might be worth a two year experiment. You both are entitled to your opinions, let's try to respect that please and leave this to be an informative post.

Don't forget that if something happens you need to do warranty claims to the company located on a different continent. Even if everything will be fine with the claim, the shipping cost back and forth will kill it.
The seller's website http://ukno1tuningshop.com is not existent, which means that someone should treat the seller as any other generic ebay seller, let's say from China and who is selling iphones.
The seller claims
"What kind of quality is this kit?
This kit is of comparable quality to units offered by Gmax, Pi, FK, Weitec and Jamex. The shocks are approx 30% uprated over standard."
I checked the prices for some of those kits and they are all 500+pounds ~$790+ price range. So yeah, you definitely should believe in the quality claim.
P.S. It's not bashing, it's just being skeptical.
bringler26 05-19-2012, 01:57 AM Based off of what I heard about other budget coils is that you get what you pay for. I hope it works out and good luck. Most people that buy budget coils get rid of them after about a year and buy the more expensive ones. Your money, your car, your choice.
