Um well it wont really blow up unless somethings installed incorrectly. Now on the other hand nitrous is a lot harder on your motor. Ive heard before that every mile you drive with nitrous is equal to driving 8-10 normal miles. I dont know if this is true or not, but it definately a lot harder on your internals, I would have it professionally installed or checked and then limit its use and learn how to drive it properly to avoid causing damage

I would just reccomend that if you installed it yourself you take it to your local racing shop and have it checked for any potential problems, incorrect jetting is a huge killer of motors running notrious. Make sure you dont run above 55 too. Ive heard that foci dont like anything higher than a 60 shot. You also might want to research what effect nitrous has on higher mileage motors when you start getting up there in the later life of the car

NITROUS WILL PUT ENORMOUS WEAR ON YOUR SEALS

The problem with nitrous is it is complete and instant boost, go dyno it and see how fast your HP goes up, it shoots straight up which has got to be bad for the engine, the power is just too much too quick. Porper installation is the most important, as well as making sure that your injectors are big enough and the pump as well. I run a 25-30 first that is still a LOT of horsepower to tack on to the focus' 130HP stock engine. What kind of kit do you have? If you use it only a few times a week it should not hurt the engine too abnormally.
You can pretty much eliminate all risk and wear with proper installation and moderation as well as good tuning.

Other than regular engine wear from nitrous usage, which is accelerated. The only thing that will kill you is a backfire from hitting the rev limiter ( which is why I have a rpm cutoff switch on my nitrou), or running out of fuel and spraying to much nitrous making it lean ...You can install a fuel pressure safety cut-off switch for about 40-50 bucks, if you do not have it , I would add one, it is a sensor that plumbs into the fuel side of the nitrous, and if the fuel pressure goes below 36 pounds it simply shuts down the whole nitrous set-up, worth the time and trouble to install. As far as high milage cars go, sure it makes a dif. , but as an example, one of the guys that works for me is spraying a 75 shot to a miata with 145,000 miles on it, and she's still okay after 65,000 miles of nitrous usage. Yes it will wear your motor a little faster than normal, and the hit is sudden and instant, as long as its small like a 50 shot uyou should be okay, the really big hits are what breaks things...good luck, have fun
