: Traction Control problems!

I just removed the ABS Fuse from the motor compartment of my 03 SVT focus. It worked out great I can spin em now!! Only when I replaced the fuse, the ABS Light stayed on as well as the Traction control light?!?! The ABS works, I made sure and tested it in water. It even works w/o the ABS fuse. Anyways, I was wondering if anybody knew a way I could get those two lights to turn back off? I tried my removing the battery for a few minutes, and no go, when I plugged the battery back in, the lights came back on. any suggestions?

try driving around for a while, in normal conditions, that might reset the lights..............it's what i had to do after i went tray sliding a while ago........should work

Turn the car to the On position without starting it, wait one minute, turn key back to off position, start car and you should have no lights.

The same thing happened to me! I was all freaked out about it, but all I had to do was drive the car for a minute and the lights went out.

For future referece, the fuse in the dash is a lot easier to work with! (Fuse 47) (i think)

Ford makes sure that you don't prematurely shut off any warning lights (other than door ajar) by requiring a little bit of driving and operating under normal conditions before turning the light off. This is to ensure that intermitent problems don't work the warning light like it is on a light switch.

Drive around for a while and you will be fine. And look for a decent kit you can install for $40 or less that will give you on/off capability without having to pull the fuse. I ran in to this one from another FF member. PM LojackSVT if you are interested... he has a nice looking kit.

Put a new fuse in. Some times they are blown and don't look it.

If you pull the fuse, THEN start the car-that causes the lights.

As a Note to everyone - Always hit the switch (TCK) or pull the fuse AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED AND THE DASH LIGHTS GO OUT!!

Hopefully pulling the negative battery cable will work. Though ABS is safety related and that may mean that the dealer has to turn the light off. Its not like a CEL where any burp causes it, and anyone can reset. ABS failures are probably pretty tough to bypass (as far as an ABS light). Hope I'm wrong though for your sake..

p.s. Under the dash is the safest place to pull the fuse...I wouldnt do underhood...

^^

I'm not sure what you need advice on. Traction control was an option that came with the cold weather package (heated seats, block heater, T/C) You may not have it.

As for all the people above shouting out to disconnect the battery and crap, I just said that a few months ago (before I put my T/C override switch in) that I pulled my engine compartment fuse and had the same problem. All you have to do is put the fuse back in and drive the car, like what has been mentioned a couple times before. Quit tossing out suggestions, the problem should already be solved. geez...

I have the TC on my car - does anyone have any links on a how-to or an aftermarket switch I could install in the cockpit to turn it off outright? Perferably one that maintains the ABS.

Do a search here.
There's a few threads with "how-to's".

Perferably one that maintains the ABS.
Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. [:(]

if you upload it to a place like photobucket.com then all you have to do is copy and paste the image URL, they even have an option to copy it already in tags.

when you click reply though, if you click image and copy the URL of the picture into the box that shows up that will do the trick

on a side note, do you know of any tuner groups or places to autocross in metro detroit?
