Hey guys. Found a low mile spi to swap in my 03. The motor is a 2000. No difference right? Anyway is there a writeup or anything i should know about the swap? I can pull the motor without the trans correct? Any info would be great!!!

You are doing an SPI to SPI swap correct? While I would recommend a Zetec, better motor in general, smoother more reliable and more powerful, if the SPI has low miles and you can get it cheaply than go for it.
An SPI to SPI swap is fairly straight forward. Simply disconnect everything and pull the motor out. May I suggest, if you have access to a lift, dropping the engine out of the bottom of the car. Much easier than pulling it out the top with a hoist, IMO.
It is possible to pull the motor out of the car with out disconnecting the transmission, however it comes out as one piece and it doesn't get in the way. I suggest taking them out as one piece and separating them, if you don't want it, with the engine out of the donor car.
As for the years, you have a 2003 correct and the motor is a 2000? Don't quote me on this, buy I believe the wiring harness connectors changes around the 2002.5 model year. Look at your manufacture date sticker in your car and check with someone else who knows for sure on the forum. You might also need to change the PCM with the SPI to SPI swap but I am not certain.
If you need to change the PCM you will also need to have a key made and use the chip in the 2000 key to get it to start. The security system won't allow it to start if the chip doesn't match up.
There are stickied threads on here pertaining to the SPI swap, just do a quick search. Most do the SPI to Zetec swap so those threads are a bit more common. The people on this forum are always glad to help you out and can back up or denounce any information I provide. I did an SPI to Zetec swap so I might be able to help you out with some things, but not all.

Yeah I know but they changed the connectors or something on the harnesses. That might not effect you as you're doing an SPI to SPI.

So i got my old motor out.. I left the trans in place. Was a PAIN getting out the top.. lol. Going back in the top was EASY. Question... Whats the easiest way to line up the studs on the torque convertor to go into the flywheel.. Looks like a pain. Any input?
