I have an 02 sonci blue svt
love the car
big problem- Louisiana has crappy (and i mean CRAPPY) roads.
bad roads=maxed out suspension
maxed out suspension=scraping
ive hit the header a couple of times, but nothing too too bad
but the owner before me hitit hard, and it pretty much moved the whole pipe back about 4-5 inches or so
ive been told that its too much work to heat it and bend it back to shape, so im goin with an obx header soon.

but what i need help with is im a big guy and even with the car on jack stnads have a hard time crawling under there and looking at the pipe itself.
is it easy to remount the o2 sensors by welding on a new bung somewhere else? or is there an aftermarket cat that has better mounts?
is there even room to put different bungs for the sensors?

if i can put new bungs, i might just keep the stock header since it wont matter if its bent as long as the o2 sensors are working

i dont want to have to keep going back to this same problem

any help is much appreciated!

Alright well a shop in town quoted me about 30-40 bucks to remount both o2 sensors, given that there will be a place to remount them
anyoneknow if there is enough room?
Because if i can do that ill just keep the bent header and just remount the sensors

header is an easy fix.... do you have a torch and a welder?

you take a metal rod, iron or something, the kind exhaust shops use to make hangers... you weld the piece right in the middle of the affected area, make sure its about 1'-2' long and bend it at the end. take the torch and heat the area until its glowing red and start pulling on the rod. It will pop the ding off. then just cut off the rod with a grinder and grind it

I just had my rear one remounted towards the passenger side because it was hitting crap in it's original up right position. Front one should be no issues either...you can either do driver side or passenger side...just watch out for bolt clearance for when your mount everything back up.

Bending the header back is doable but seems like a PITA. Spend 30$ and have another bung welded.

where did you have a new bung welded? a local exhaust shop told me that to begin with, the need to be rewelded within a 1/4 of an inch to its factoy location, and then additionally, rewelding to the catalytic converter would screw everything else up and id need a new cat

it wont mess nothing up. Assuming you are talking about the rear sensor mine was welded right above the weld seam pointing towards the passenger side. I even have a bosh sensor in the new bung and it works just fine.

I think they are telling you this because its an emmisions part and they don't want to be liable for it because they know its expensive. I did not bring my car in when getting it done, I took the cat off at my house and just brought it in by itself and told them where to weld. No vehicle specs nothing. Less they know the better.

I know the ORP has the mounts on the sides to avoid smacking the ground. $200 new.
