Whenever I release my clutch, it sounds like I am squeezing and releasing a spring. Kind of a hard noise to explain, but it doesn't have any effect on my driving. Just a weird noise. Anyone know what it could be?

Have you, or the previous owner, ever had the infamous "master cylinder leak"?
It might be a result of exposure to the leaked fluid.
The springs have been known to break after prolonged exposure, maybe yours is trying to warn you?

Its the spring that returns and keeps your clutch pedal up. I've had a few break, the last one started making a "spring" sound prior to breaking. Steve at Tousley ford sells for under $10. I'd be surprised if fluid was getting on the spring due to were the spring is at. You could put some lithuim grease on it to quiet the noise. I always keep an extra one on hand because it sucks having use your foot to pull the clutch pedal up.
