As the title reads...I am looking to replace my thermostat on my 03 SVT. I am brand new to this car so I am not sure of any of the specs...any help is greatly appreciated.

call up steve at toulsey ford and he'll hook u up with the upgraded t-stat housing (doesn't have the known failure point of the stock SVT unit) and t stat for 10% over cost + shipping.

Good Luck!

I wouldnt recommend a 180* t stat unless you have a tuner/scanner to update that info in the tune.

Thanks....I have a code for the coolant temp sensor, figured I would change out the thermostat while I was in there...

I would do a 180 thurmostat out of a 96 contour DOHC Zetec , you have to ask for the 180 deg

News to me about any failures on the SVT thurmostat ?

If you're going to replace the sensor and the thermostat I would suggest the upgraded (Contour) housing kit also, with the stock 192-195* thermostat.

I upgraded my housing for preventive maintenance, but when I took the SVT housing off it was on its way to failing.

I would NOT put the 192 Deg thurmostat back in unless this is just a driver and your never going to mod it

Tom,
I ran a 180 Stant Superstat in mine for about a month and it started throwing the same code saying the coolant temp was too low for a closed loop system. I swapped to a 195 and the code is gone. Any thoughts on why that happened?

Go with the cfm setup. Very nice housing and comes with everything to mount.

I like the CFM setup bc it has everything, but what makes it worth the extra cost compared to replacing with a new housing and temp sensor from Tousley??

My experience is that untill I put in a Ford thermostat I was getting a low temp code. I tried three different thermostats untill I tried the Ford unit and the problem went away for good.

In my Dodge Ram, i went 180 and i get cooler hauls; In my SVT, i use OEM, tune or not. If the needle stays in the middle, i'm happy.

Not to thread hijack but ever thermostat I get seems to be too short for my 02 SVT. Could my car already have an paraded housing.
