I have a friend of mine that ever since I have bought my SVTF has been wanting to race me in his 02 Stratus R/T. I dont know much about those cars but I do think they are pretty heavy. I think they have around 200hp but he also has a atx and its bone stock. So I was wondering should I be worried? I am also completely stock. With everything said do yall think I would win or lose??

Since hes got a heavy ride and an atx. I think you will walk on him. You got the lighter car and a 6 speed. And if you can drive. I think hes in trouble.

If you can drive I'll give it to you. But if you're like the other idjets that don't know how to find second gear (you know the one right below first) you'll have a problem.

The Stratus R/T weighs about 3200-3300 lbs.

I thought they came in a manualmatic? Either way, I think that you should be able to take it.

ManualMatic or not it doesn't allow you to have COMPLETE control of the vehicles shifting charecteristics. I believe they call it AutoStick. Your right though either way SVT stock should take him.

Yeah. I know. I use to have one of those cars. They have some power but the automatic sucks on it.

a raced one a few months ago and i beat him pretty badly. no problem

the manual tranny version goes 0-60 in 7.4 and the 1/4 goes by in 15.7

if he has an auto tranny you will probably win, but if your shifting sucks and you have TC he will beat you.

It just so happens that I killed a Stratus yesterday. Horrible pumpkin orange paint, huge rear wing straight from the Farce and the Furryass.

It was wet out, and he screwed the launch pretty bad - which has to be tough in an ATX. He didn't appear to have a good handle on his torque steer.

Only ran him through third - but it was over at launch.

I'm still completely stock in terms of engine.

you should be able to be that stratus perdy easily as long as you can drive somewhat decent.

I raced a monte carlo ss, the new ones. they have 200 hp and i beat him no problem, so i think you should beat a stratus

Yeah, I've done this race before, organized and everything. I walked away from him above 35-40mph. He will get you slightly off the line, but once you run through the powerband in first it's all over.You don't even need to shift all that gressively, if you know what you're doing it will be an easy race.

If you come out with a good start u'll take him once u hit the "sweet spot" in the rpm range [thumb] ....shouldnt be a problem but like they all said, if u cant drive he might just pull ahead [;)]

According to http://www.ssmoparmuscle.com/speedcomp.htm, it looks like he might beat you. 1/2 second faster in the 0-60 but 1/10 second faster in the 1/4 mile. Don't know about the source of the numbers or the equipment on the cars. A lot depends on the driver, especially with a car like the SVT. If you're running the A/C, miss second, stall the motor, hit a traffic light & get pulled over, he'll win.
