: Nightmare turned into reality... Whats your opinion?
blwnsvtfocus 01-02-2012, 11:52 AM Pulled the head off my car, to find (assuming) the pin holding the piston to the connecting rod made a nice (guess) 1/8" goudge in the cyl wall!
Id like to keep the car, however don't know if I should look for a used engine, or get a new block from Ford?
My car does have a JRSC that I do plan on putting back on.
pasta 01-02-2012, 12:27 PM check topspeed 3500 long block with racing head
GO.army.1969 01-02-2012, 12:33 PM Can the block get new sleeves put in dont know about the ztech most motors can be resleeved though.
NX_Focus 01-02-2012, 01:02 PM wonder what a short block would be or a long block with factory head from Topspeed.
bmylez 01-02-2012, 02:23 PM The Zetec cannot be sleeved. A used motor will do just fine. People have found them for $1k every now and then.
1turbofocus 01-02-2012, 03:42 PM Sure the Zetec can be sleeved , find a used Zetec block and build it back , I wouldnt look for a costly SVT block

blwnsvtfocus 01-03-2012, 09:17 PM Ok guys, talked to ford: short block was discontinued! fml.... Long block $3730! fml again... I can't afford that right now.. So I found an SVT motor at a junk yard with 68K miles. They just got the car in, and are asking $1750. Said they would guarantee 3mos warranty. They are going to test the motor in the AM and bcuz of the milage maybe offer a 9mos warranty. What do you guys think?
Then with my motor, I can give Tom ALL my money (after I buy my house) to build that motor! And eventually turbo... one day....
iminhell 01-03-2012, 09:31 PM $1,750, screw that.
A JY should have a zetec for ~$350. And that's the route I'd go. Just swap parts from your block to the new block ,,, top end, manifolds, oil pickup tube, clutch, flywheel, Crank Position Sensor and Vehicle Speed Sensor.
1turbofocus 01-04-2012, 08:26 AM Is your head damaged ? If not do a short block for 2250.00 and you bolt on your head and parts , thats only 500.00 more then the engine your looking at
Tom
blwnsvtfocus 01-04-2012, 08:30 AM I have burnt exhaust valves in cyl 3.
A short block from where? I already checked with ford.
BigRed03 01-04-2012, 11:25 AM Tom is refering to his short block.
You can do this economically, just depends on how mechanically inclined you are.
$1750 for an SVT engine?! better include the tranny for that price!
I like iminhells' plan
blwnsvtfocus 01-04-2012, 11:50 AM Is that block a stock block?
DEMENTED SVTF 01-04-2012, 12:33 PM Cfm sells a 100% new zetec block with forged internals made for boost at $1999
blwnsvtfocus 01-04-2012, 12:54 PM I only seen one on CFM for $24xx.95 ill have to look again.
bflesher 01-04-2012, 01:16 PM Junkyard motor. I spent 3k for motor(complete as in everything still on it), forged eagle rods, forged lightweight 10.2.1 pistons, cleaning/disassembly/reassembly, balancing, and blueprinting.
<edit>And now I think about that was also for cams/springs and cutting tool for the springs so knock off 800 if reusing the stock cams/springs.
DEMENTED SVTF 01-04-2012, 02:46 PM I just checked. It must have been on sale when I looked at it last.
blwnsvtfocus 01-05-2012, 12:45 AM My luck! Lol
Thanks for looking out tho!
1turbofocus 01-05-2012, 11:59 AM I also have short blocks
