I was looking into what awd cars shared the same frame as the ford focus and I came across only one that I could find the mazda speed 3 so I was thinking why not find a scrapped speed 3 or just order the axels tranny engine etc etc etc and make my awd focus that way and to top it off the engine in the speed 3 kicks ass I dont remember the specs on it but I did race one once and sadly I lost

Forgive me for my ignorance and laziness to research, but the Mazda speed 3 is awd? I thought it was just front wheel?!?!?!

The speed 6 is. I think i remember reading somewhere that a guy had swapped a speed3 drivetrain into a zx3, with a rear axle and supports and crossmember from a wrecked cx-7. From what the article said the back end mostly bolted into the focus. IIRC it was claimed to be around 350whp. Sounded pretty awesome. An AWD 350hp Foci

They did make speed 3 awds my friend whos a master machanic is the one who told me to look it up but the awd speed 3 was a limited edition I belive but the awd speed 3 is out there its just not the american version

I've never heard of a mazdawpeed 3 being AWD only the mazdaspeed6 was awd to my knowledge. But if you want to just do motor swap. It hasn't really been done yet. But you would need to change the wire harness somehow. As for bolting it in everything should go smoothly. But you may just want to look into the Ford crate motors that are coming out next year. They are making a ecoboost 2.0 with 240hp. Then they are making another 2.0 ecoboost with rumored 320hp. And the torque ranges are unbelievable.

There is no US spec awd Mazda Speed 3. They are only fwd. Engines could bolt in but don't use a later model skyactiv. They already run 14:1 compression as is. Better off as mentioned to go for a US ecoboost crate motor. Either way will cost you $4k-$5k just for the motor. You will also need all new accessories, wiring harnesses, cpu, trans etc. So just to do the motor conversion expect about $8kish. Now for awd.....expect to pay another chunk. If you got the $$$$ go for it.
