i have an 04 euro svtf annd ive been reading alot about people improving the lazy throttle response. my question is...if i put in a 67mm TB, k&n intake, and borla exhaust. will i need a tuner for it to run right due to increased air flow. also has anyone added the cfm sts? if so how does it perform is it to short to reach or is it still at a comfortable hight. thanks for any input in advance.

I have done all the bolt-ons possible for a svtf and speaking from experience all three of these would do hardly anything for throttle repsonse. The tuner would be the first mod i would do, that is the single best mod for power throttle repsonse and over driveability for the svtf(totally different car with a good tune). After that high flow cat or off road pipe. The most i would do intake wise is a K&N drop in filter. TB don't do much if anything, exhaust just makes noise, the svtf factory exhaust is more than enough for you. The K&N instake just sucks in hot air with little to no pwer gain. Just my .02 though.

I have Tom's tune and I also ported the stock throttle body, combine this with a dog bone torque mount and a think you will be amazed at the difference in throttle response.

I second this ^^^ I would just port the stocker before you dump the money one that does the same thing. The dog bone mount is a must if you don't mind a slight increase in vibration at idle.

I agree with those above. Start with fixing the problem before adding bolt-ons.

This hesitation that the SVT experiences is mostly just bad oem tuning and a restrictive factory catalytic converter.

The Best thing you can do, in my opinion, for the SVT is get Tom's Tune and a High-Flow Cat (or an Off-Road Pipe if you don't have emissions testing.)

Even a completely stock SVT has plenty to benefit from a custom tune. Tom's tune and the high-flow cat would still probably be cheaper than buying a K&N Intake, 67mm TB, and a Borla Exhaust.

I have lower compression, worse head, and smaller cams in my Zetec than an SVT has and I crush my brothers stock SVT outright. Right from idle, his SVT seems to second guess his input to the throttle. After Tom tuned my car, it seems somehow more mechanical if that makes any sense, It just goes.

I hope this helps you.

The best bolt on IMO is the HFC or ORP. When I did my timing belt change that put some lost low end power back into the engine. The tune is probably the best thing.

thanks for the info guys. i think im just going to do the orp, k&n drop in and a tune. as far as the tune goes are the 3 preset tunes that come with the programer decent or do i definately need toms tune. also how much better does is shift with the counter weight removed? any opinions on short shifters.

I took my counterweight off and already had a short throw on the car. After a week or so of driving, I finally adjusted my linkage better and honestly, I can't even remember what the old shifts felt like. Don't want to.

It's lighter, more springy, and goes much smoother from gear to gear. Make it happen if you have the cash. You'll enjoy it.

The presets that come with any of the tuners are crap. No real improvement.
A custom tune hands down will be fitted for your car and make it run tons better.

As for the Counter weight removal ... it's up an down for reviews. For me, it gives me more of a notchy feel, feels smooth with the counter weight in. So, it depends on what you want. Notchy or smooth. No difference on how much faster you can shift, just the feel of the shift.

I would go with the Ford Racing STS (or Steeda ... same as Ford Racing one) or the CFM one. both are great, just the CFM one has physical height adjustment as well. But same throw as the others.

I agree with these guys. I had an AEM and a flow master exhaust, decent sound out of it but nothing for power. Then i got ahold of tom, bought his tune and I was shocked. I mean the difference was night and day from stock to tuned and my tune was just a "base" tune. It hasnt even been improved on yet.

As for the counter weight. tukani said it right. Its really personal opinion. i LOVE mine without it. to me its "clicky", as in it clicks into gear rather than smoothly glides into gear. Its never going back on my car.
