I noticed the other day that svt comes with a sub inthe back, maybe its with a certain package, but how is it? Does it hit hard? How big is it?

It is only an 8" it is great for a factory install, but nothing worth entering a car audio competition with.

Comes with the Audiophile sound package. It is an 8" sub with it's own separate amp and it's enough for me and most SVT owners but honestly it doesn't hit very hard and the bass is on the "muddy" side. You'd be much better off buying an aftermarket sub and putting that in. If you like the factory look of the thing, buy a used one or better yet the empty shell and then you only have to modify it a little bit to squeeze an aftermarket 8" or 10" into there.

I changed mine because of the quality. It is very hard to modify the box because it is very shallow maybe a better quality 8" sub would work.

I'd like to mod it to something better. It sounds great when you are seated or maybe walking around the car but when you pop the hatch it sounds like ass. Not really a biggie with me because when I drive the radio is usually turned off so I can listen to my car.

I just replaced my sub with an 8" JL and head unit with a clarion deck. The whole sound system sounds much more crisp, and less of that "muddy" bass as aformentioned. It's got some pop to it now. I used the stock amp by the way...

^^ Did you put the 8" JL Audio inside the factory housing or did you get another housing? I'm surprised the stock amp is adequate for an aftermarket sub, I don't remember the power output offhand but it didn't seem like nearly as much as you would get from an aftermarket amp?

Anyway yeah the 8" is your best bet if you want to stick a new sub in the Ford box, but as mentioned above it's a tight fit so you have to cut and modify the box and then fiberglass the new "back" end of it. Almost positive I've read at least one post that said someone had used the same method to squeeze in a 10" sub into the box...

Really? That's more than I thought. I know the exact specs of the system were posted here a long time ago but I'm too lazy to look it up. [rolleyes]

Someone did a how to for a 10" install of the factory box. I have been looking for it but nothing yet.

The stock AMP(S) is adequate to drive two tens. Trust me I put my buddies enclosure in the back and drove like that for a week. Hurt my ears to much. The sound of the factory 8 is okay, if you want something to hit hard A custom enclosure would be your best bet, 8's aren't really for the rumble they work best for sharp hits.

ill put it this way i dont think its any better than some good 6x9's but for a stock system it sounds pretty good

i like it, it satisfies my bumping needs...........i like it because it's very sleek looking, but everyone who rides in my car asks "do you have a sub"?

More than enough for my ears. How loud do you need it? Let me put it to you like this...I don't don't need to dust the interior. I feel it in my back, it vibrates the mirrors, still get looks at the light that it's too loud and at the end of the day my ears don't bleed. But...if you must let everyone a block away know you're coming...spend the dough on the ICE rather than the orp,or sts or whatever you feel will make you faster over being musically louder. BOOM-locka-locka!

i like the sub. the audiophile package is perfect to me because its a perfect balance of sound quality without having to sacrifice much car performance and trunk space.

i dont have any want to add any more subs or get a bigger sub as i dont want to add anymore weight to the car.

My friend owns a car audio and customizing shop and he thinks the stock sub sounds great for factory I agree, it isn't going to rattle your car to death, I've never understood wanting your stereo to hit so hard that it shakes your interior apart, but my friend he had a truck that had 12 JL 10's in the snug top and it would bounce quarters probably 3 or 4 inches up and down if you laid them on top and his windsheld popped up and down when he had it hitting it was so loud you couldn't sit in it he won quite a few competitions with it.

I agree that the Audiophile is great *for factory*. We have it in ours, and with two kids usually in the back, it's perfect for sound quality and depth and boom boom. We all love the boom boom. My husband used to compete in sound competitions and wants to put 3 10" JLs back there (well, he wants 3 10" JLs in everything). Ugh. I see no point.

I love the sound system, perfect for me. Just enough bass, but not so little to be leaving asking for more.

It's enough to keep me entertained, but I am also one of those that 50% of the time I just like to listen to the engine and exhaust notes.

I stopped doing that when I started going to the dealer every other day. It'll drive you mad when you "think" you hear something and it stops once you pull into the dealer.

I think that the system is extremely nice for a stock system. A guy I work with has an Infiniti M45 ($50,000) with a Bose package, but when I turned on my stereo he was blown away how much better the Audiophile was than the Bose. I read an interesting article on 2004 stock car audio systems and the SVTF had the second highest rating in the world behind the Audi A8 (two subs, eight speakers, tons of power). In a nut shell...Ford did well!

The audiophile system is built by visteon. It's the equivalent of boston acoustics systems. Check out Visteon.com
