i was parked under a light pole last night and it looked like it might give some good light. So I gave it a shoot, I suck at night shots so bad but I've been working with it. Practice makes perfect right? Tell me what you think oh and I don't have a tripod either I just sat on the ground and used my knee. lol

- I used a couple settings night scene gave a better shot than night shot. I have a 5.0 mp Canon Powershot P530.

Does your camera have the ability to open up the exposure? If so, find something sturdy to set your camera on, set a timer and give yourself a 2-3 second exposure and then adjust accordingly.

If you use the night auto settings of the camera, you should turn off your headlights.

Because the auto computer off the camera will think it's too bright and expose for the headlights. Then you will mainly only get the headlights and a dark background.

Though a light pole is good for our eyes to see at night, photo technology needs a bit more light.

Keep practicing, you will get it.

Also agree with WiscoZx3, if you have a way to control the Shutter or exposure time on your camera, for night shots it's best to have the camera take a long photo that a quick snap of your subject.
