Hey I'm new to the forums, and was just looking to get a little info on turbos. I'm some what new to cars in general, but having two brothers who are mechanics I do know a few basics. I'm just looking to hear your guys opinion on running turbos in a focus. I'm looking into the FSwerks Stage 2 kit for my 07 Focus hatchback. 2.0L.
Basically I just want to know:
1. Did you noticed a huge decrease in MPG?

2. Reliability of your turbo or if you have an FSwerks kit, how do you like it?

3. Maybe prices of other kits and why you like it better?

Please understand this isn't a "pissing" contest, everybody has their brands but I just want solid reasons.

I've heard nothing but good things about the FSwerks kit so I would really like to stick with this kit. I know its a little on the pricey side, however I know the quality is there and great customer service.

Thanks in advice for the "new" member question!

MPG is about the same. Less if you can't stay out of the accelerator; improves a bit if you can just drive easy.

2. Reliability of your turbo or if you have an FSwerks kit, how do you like it?
FSwerks has kits with well over 30K miles on them. Hell the turbo kit might outlast the engine with the engineering that went into it.

3. Maybe prices of other kits and why you like it better?
Top Speed Performance has a kit that is equally as good as FSwerks and uses a external wastegate setup. Some people have opt'd to build their own kit. Search for Sporadic's Turbo build thread. I am using the F2 turbo kit which was not very popular but I've had no issues for the 25K miles I've put on the kit. My car has 131K miles on it and is daily driven

1. Did you noticed a huge decrease in MPG?

As answered above, MPG's stayed pretty much the same I was getting 30-32mpg highway before I installed the kit. Get 30-32mpg highway after I installed the kit. (If you stay out of it.)

2. Reliability of your turbo or if you have an FSwerks kit, how do you like it?

I have had my FSW kit on for 2 years now and have well over 40,000 miles on it. Has been trouble free.

3. Maybe prices of other kits and why you like it better?
There is the TSP kit, as stated above is external wastegated where as the FSW kit is internal. You can customize the TSP kit a little more but they both are using Garret turbo's
