I looked up the VIN for my old ST, and the dealer I sold it to sold it to a private party for $10,002. Which isnt bad, considering the dealer was asking $12,500. Keep in mind its just a 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 ST with leather and 76k miles. I had that thing on craigslist, and 3 other car sale websites, and the forum for $8k! And it was up for leke 3 weeks, so its not like it didnt have time to sell. Wth? lol Why cant people do some research first. Heres the kbb: http://www.kbb.com/ford/focus/2006-ford-focus/zx4-st-sedan-4d/?vehicleid=492&intent=trade-in-sell&mileage=75000&options=18844|true|18771|true|18845|true|18875|true&condition=excellent&pricetype=private-party
$9,270 is the highest, and that is in Excellent condition too! (Which it wasnt in excellent condition to be honest.) Man, people are stupid. They will just take anything a dealer has to offer and piss on the private seller.

Let's all chip in and open our own dealership

You sure it isn't just a little Honda buyer's remorse?[joke]
Seriously though, If it comes with a warranty, then people are willing to spend more money. You are also more likely to find guppies at a dealership then you are on the net. Especially when you are listing on specialist sites where people are looking for super specific things.[dunno]

I guess the warranty would have alot to do with it. I do miss my ST every day, even had a dream about driving it last night lol But I like the Si alot too, and cant wait to start raping it with mods! (no rice)

A warranty could easily add a thousand to a used car. Even more. The sale price may include taxes, and warranty.

Yeah, I paid $15,500 for the Si with 15,000 miles on it, but walked out paying $17,000 in taxes, dealer fees, and extended warranty.

Not to mention demand. People are out looking for exciting four cylinder cars. They might not have a clue where to find them, but they know a dealership will put them into something. So they go and get fleeced by someone that sells them a car for way more than it is worth by parking it next to a Camry and saying, "You could have this super reliable, economical, incredibly boring pile of beige... Or, you could have this sexy red Focus ST that will get all the same gas mileage and reliablity. It is a sport model, so it is a little more expensive..."
Hook, line and sinker. Every time.

Yes. People are stupid. As if there was any question about that? Lolz..

How do you look up what your car sold for? Kinda curious about my old almost-dead mazda
09-15-2011, 02:45 PM
Yeah, they like paying the dealer lots of money and not you. Makes them feel better, they have a company they can goto if things are working great to complain to. Its like re-assuring to buy from them or something
How happy would you have been to get 9 or 10k for it? [:)]

Find the VIN, and carfax lol We have full year for free. Between my dad, brother, and I we buy at least 6 cars a year lol I wouldve crapped my pants if someone offered me $9k! More mod money!
