found this article. What do you guys think? http://wot.motortrend.com/we-hear-ford-focus-rs-will-have-up-to-380-hp-debut-in-two-years-110545.html

Ford engineers may be working on a higher-performance Focus RS hatchback. A new report from Auto Express suggests that the RS is still on track and could pack 380 hp into a new coupe body.

The report suggests that the new Focus RS will squeeze as much as 380 hp out of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. That would make the new Focus RS more powerful than the prior-generation’s 350-hp Focus RS500. Power will go only to the front wheels, necessitating Ford’s RevoKnuckle suspension design and torque-vectoring traction control to help the Focus RS transmit all its power to the road. AE believes the Focus RS will accomplish the 0-to-60-mph sprint in as little as 5.5 seconds. The Focus RS500 hit 62 mph in 5.6 seconds, according to Ford’s numbers.

The Focus RS would, like the Focus ST, most likely be offered as a five-door hatchback. Ford is reportedly considering a two-door coupe model, but a three-door hatch design is unlikely. AE says that the Focus RS is “at least” two years away from launch.

A spokesman from Ford’s SVT group in the U.S. previously wouldn’t confirm or deny whether a Focus RS was in the cards. He told us the company was working hard on launching the Focus ST, and noted that Ford’s RS models are “a real special occasion.” For now, we’d probably be satisfied with the ST alone — Ford hasn’t offered a hotted-up Focus in the states since production of the SVT Focus ended in 2004.

Fortunately, fans of hot-hatch products from the Blue Oval won’t have to wait much longer, as Ford has confirmed that the 247-hp Focus ST will bow in production form at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. It may be joined in Frankfurt by the Fiesta ST, which is expected to extract between 180 and 200 hp from a 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline-four engine.

I think that Motor Trend is garbage (always) but a hotter Focus in North America would be cool

America won't see an RS. Lol.

But.. IF we did.. I would want a 3-door hatch. Get outta here with that 5-door nonsense. That's what we have the new ST for. The RS should.. NEEDS to remain a 3 door. Just like it is in Europe.

What do I think? I think I've given up on Ford bringing anything to the table that even resembles a hot hatch to the USA, and I think Motor Trend is about as useful to Me as TMZ.

The ST should at least be a warm hatch.

Lukewarm, at best. It has too many doors, and that's coming from a sedan owner, lol.

Sounds like more fodder for the rumor mill, to Me. "A little birdie". I call BS until proof exists. Nothing personal, but maybe Your "little birdie" is trying to sound cooler than it really is.

Service writer I always talk to at Ford showed me an article in their "employees only" magazine about it. I'll see if he still has it next time I go down there.

Look up the F-150 Raptor, it just came out about a year ago now SVT is going strong.

As for that rumor, it sounds fun, but i can already see major issues with the "rumors"

1. 380hp is way to much for a fwd car, hell, thats alot for a rwd or 4wd car.

2. How much is this going to cost? Its probably going to be in the territory of some seriously hard hitting performance cars.

3. FWD just isnt the best performance platform, no matter how you look at it, RWD or 4WD is the better option. If im going to spend that kind of dollar on a sports car, that fwd thing is a major put-off

The North American SVT and European TeamRS merged in January 2009 under Ford exec Jost Capito who previously led Ford of Europe's World Rally Championship efforts.

According to Drive Magazine, the third-generation RS is in development and is expected in 2013 or 2014.

(replace "hxxp" with "http")

So far, it seems that any rumors about the new RS coming to North America are still just that, rumors. But with the third generation focus being designed for both North American and European markets, it could still be a possibility. Maybe Ford wants to wait and see how well the ST sells?
