Hi,
I need car to drive me each day at least 100 miles in next five years ( 182 500 miles in total).
Since I have good experience with Ford, I am planning to buy a Ford Focus (used one wiht 60.000-90.000 miles on it).
Can you give me any advice on what should I pay attention?
Is there any known problems with transmission or engine, etc?
Thank you

If it is a Zetec, check for maintenance on the timing belt.
thats all I can tell you. I dont know to much, other than I like the Duratec engines more.

I can't say to much either except take any car you are looking at for a test drive and make sure everything mechanical seems to be operating correctly (no slippage in the transmission, no sign of overheating, basics like that).
One engine to avoid is the SPI engine because it can damage itself fatally. Many people have had good luck with them if they have been properly maintained, but considering the miles already on the car and how many you expect to put on, you would be best advised to avoid them.

Just basic common sense stuff. Check if fluids are topped off and if they look to be good. Any leaks etc
