: Projector Headlights
rismeyes 06-23-2011, 05:35 PM I was considering these projector headlights: http://www.carmoddirect.com/products/2008%252d2010-Ford-Focus-CCFL-Halo-Projector-Headlights-(Black).html
Wondering if anyone has them, or something similar on a second gen Focus?

Yes many people have those headlights but if you look them up on eBay you can get them for much cheaper just search projector headlights on this site.
2011 SE 06-23-2011, 06:05 PM Unless you do a retrofit, these are the only aftermarket projector/halo combo available. They're all made by a manufacturer called Eagle Eyes, and to be completely honest with you, I wouldn't buy them from that site if I were you.
I got mine on Ebay, unopened, for $275. $310 after shipping. They say there's "some wiring" for the halos, but it's really just a matter of moving a tab from one side to another. Easiest thing in the world.
I've had a set for about 6 months and put some HIDs in them, so feel free to ask any questions you may have!
rismeyes 06-23-2011, 06:18 PM Thanks, but I was just using that more for the picture. How were the bulbs that came with the headlights or would you just recommend getting HIDs right away?
2011 SE 06-23-2011, 06:31 PM The bulbs were alright, but since they're projectors, I felt like they were going to waste without getting HIDs in there.
I went with DDMtuning's 35w kit (http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W), which is really inexpensive compared to others. They come with a lifetime guarantee. From what I've heard from people, they're hit or miss on quality, but mine have been amazing with no issues.
You may have to do a slight mod to the bracket that holds the bulb in if you go with HIDs (because they're slightly longer than halogen bulbs), but it's an easy fix.
LTL0540 06-23-2011, 11:49 PM this is the cheapest i've seen them:

cheers
PSUrivie 06-24-2011, 01:23 AM yep get them at Ebay and get a DDM tuning kit. It's a really nice set up. The only problem I had was that one of the HALO inverters blew out. But you can buy replacements here:
http://www.elwirepros.com/halo-inverter.html
It's for dual HALOs but you can just leave one disconnected. They work really well!

Not gonna lie, I definitely just bought this pair because they were $75 cheaper USD SHIPPED than any others I've seen.
Now to make them a great gift or use them as a backup! Thanks for posting this [thumb]
Slammed_2.0 06-24-2011, 08:25 AM is it true you DO lose Hi beam function with these projector headlights?

idk is it just me or does that seller look pretty sketchy?
2011 SE 06-24-2011, 05:25 PM is it true you DO lose Hi beam function with these projector headlights?
You do NOT lose your high beams as long as you stay with the new bulb size that they provide (H9).
If you bypass the headlight's connectors and install the stock bulb size, you will lose high beams. So don't bypass the adapters. Use them!

A little, yes. But I'll find out soon, seeing as I bought them!

hahaha well let me know about the quality because that's a steal!
Slammed_2.0 06-25-2011, 01:53 PM Oh okay.. To be honest, I just don't seem to like the cutoff line on these projectors. They seem to dull. I wanna see someone modify their projector on the eagle eyes projector headlights to sharpen the cutoff line.
This is what i to see if someone can get their cutoff line like:
Sharper, colorful, and very noticeable

First image is a TSX projector and second is Morimoto H1 Bi-Xeon.
2011 SE 06-25-2011, 02:29 PM Mine on eagle eyes projectors isn't as perfect as that, but it's damn close. In the installation thread for these, I explained how to fix the light leak using 3 stacked hex head nuts.
I'll take some pictures tonight to show you my cutoff.

this would be nice, I've seen few of these cutoff lines and I wasn't really impressed.
2011 SE 06-26-2011, 08:50 PM So I took a couple. I probably should have taken one a little closer to the wall, but I think these illustrate how the cutoff looks. Note that I was on a hill, which is why it is slightly slanted.

They DO get a soft near the edges, but the fix I came up with makes the cutoff line much cleaner than how it came from the factory. I'm perfectly happy with them the way they are, though every time I see some Morimotos I get a little weak in the knees. Those things are soooooo nice.
Slammed_2.0 06-27-2011, 08:26 AM your cutoff is indeed pretty sharp. Almost identical to the morimoto just without the color flicker. But i do notice that it looks like the cutoff shield inside the projector isnt all that angled. To me it seems like its basically a straight shield.
Are those 4100K hid or 5000K?
edit:
NVM i see ur sig..
2011 SE 06-27-2011, 05:30 PM That's a good point. I'm not really sure about if the shield is angled or not. I'll have to check out how the shield looks next time I'm driving at night. I always assumed it was angled, but those pictures make it look straight.
Slammed_2.0 06-27-2011, 06:35 PM Your cutoff compared to the Morimoto it seems like ur cutoff sheild is almost a straight line. Maybe this is why the eagle eyes don't produce any color flicker (keep in mind distance to sheild and projector lens creates different color flicker/sharpness). The Morimoto has almost a 2" elevation lower beam to top beam from 25' away
But then, every projector isn't identical with cutoff line. I'm just hoping someone on here do have eagle eyes that produce a nice color flicker
Edit
Do the eagle eyes come with clear plastic or glass lens?
2011 SE 06-27-2011, 06:49 PM Do the eagle eyes come with clear plastic or glass lens?
The projector lens or the headlight assembly? The headlight assembly is plastic. Not sure about the projector, though I would assume it's glass. I highly doubt plastic would be able to withstand the heat of HIDs.
2011 SE 07-01-2011, 10:31 PM hahaha well let me know about the quality because that's a steal!
They arrived yesterday! Not gonna lie, really thought I was going to get scammed.
I still need to test them to make sure they work, but if they do, I'm keeping them as backups or to use for experiments [wrenchin]
badazz2010focus 07-04-2011, 07:52 AM if i'm not mistaken I believe HIDS are cooler then regular h9's...
blackbumpinfocus93 07-04-2011, 05:25 PM Do they use H9's or H7's? What's the difference between the two? This seller on eBay says they use H7 bulbs. 2011 SE 07-05-2011, 05:58 AM They are H9. As for the difference, I'm not sure.
SlateTheGreat 07-05-2011, 12:45 PM If you have any questions, pm me. I've had these and ddm HIDs for over a year with no issues. No wiring, splicing or anything. I've answered a ton of questions on 08+ projectors/HIDs. I have the LED tails as well.
TXFocus210 07-06-2011, 10:44 AM So I ordered mine today.....One of the final Mods before I can SAVE for the Exhaust kit......So the Rings....they run constant right?
blackbumpinfocus93 07-06-2011, 12:02 PM If you have any questions, pm me. I've had these and ddm HIDs for over a year with no issues. No wiring, splicing or anything.
So hold on is the ddm kit a straight plug and play kit or do you have to splice into some wires? I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm just curious because the only reason I wasn't going to do HID's is because I hate electrical wiring.

Plug and play.
Go to DDMtuning.com > Support > HIDs and you'll find a step-by-step install guide for the bulbs, the wiring harness (if you purchase one), and a picture guide to the different bulb sizes.
Nearly half of the install guide is removing the bulb. If I could figure it out, I'm sure you can too [thumb] But if you have any questions, definitely ask!
blackbumpinfocus93 07-07-2011, 04:04 PM So when ordering my kit with the slim ballast from DDM what should I do for bulb size? H9?
2011 SE 07-07-2011, 05:49 PM Assuming you ordered the same Eagle Eyes projectors, then yes, you should get H9 sized bulbs.
