: Reflash done correctly or not?

Okay I thought I had the YRFO burn but I'm sceptical. The invoice states that they Checked Pcm calibration, checked fuel system, blah blah blah, Checked everything. Could not verify customers concerns reprogrammed PCM.

I don't have a sticker anywhere on my vehicle indicating that it received a revised edition. NO RLA6 or YRFO or even RLA1 sticker anywhere. Checked both doors and under the hood. It's not next to the emissions sticker where the TSB recommends the placement. How do I find out? I still have high idle, slight surging between 2000 and 3000. Drop in idle at times to where it tries to die. Hanging rpm's between shifts. My dash lights flicker at low rpms as well, indicating a charging issue.

Go back to the dealer and ask them if they reflashed the pcm. Ask to talk to the tech who did it, its your right.

Have to do that monday. Thanks,

Anyone else getting tired of talking to a service manager as opposed to a Service Technician? I don't know why I have to talk to a glorified secretary when describing my problems. I don't mean to offend, that's just been my experience dealing with my local area dealers.

i dont really have that problem. i talk to the mechanic who works on my car. the guy who runs the dealership where i bought my svt from is a close family friend, so i know a lot of the people that work there. theyre svt certified, but all they sold were cobras and lightnings. i asked them to order me a focus, and they did. i'm considering doin the reflash when i send it in for regular service cause i just passed 10k miles. i dont notice any real problems cept for that surge, and i give my car a good "jogging" *cough, cough* every now and then. i guess some dealerships are good, and some are just plain nasty. i guess i just have to wait and see if any other problems arise....

Yeah I'm waiting for a reply from someone in another thread. He said he got wondrful service from Planet Ford somewhere here in houston. I'm not exactly sure how to get there though.

O yeah, and if also, something easy for you to check if you have yrf0. With yrf0 the dsi switches over at 5K instead of 6K. Have a friend watch the tach while you rev the car by hand under the hood by opening the throttle plate, watch the side of the intake manifold for movement and when you see the tab get pulled on to switch the runners raise your other hand and have your friend tell you what rpm you raised your hand at. Make sure your friend is just watching for your hand to raise out of the corner of your eye, because he has to be watching for the exact rpm on the tach.

I got my car back from the dealer for YRFO "reflashed". On the paper, it just states that "calibration and Reprogrammed". Whats the update of what that mean RockyNBullwinkle? Thanks.

I've heard way too many people say that if your DSI activates at 5k that you have the latest flash. THAT IS FALSE. I've talked to Ford (SVT line) and a flash came out in March of 03' that will make the DSI open at 5k. There was an update in Sept 03' that further corrects some more minor problems and also opens the DSI @ 5k. Check the flash sticker and call SVT to verfy if you have the most current flash.

I have called them and they claimed that the "reprogrammed" means reflashed and that the SVT dealers will have nothing but new ECM flash file in their system.
