: 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, vs 2011 Corvette Grand Sport.
FocusSTHopeful 05-26-2011, 07:12 AM I'm just curious which car you enjoy more from a personal, subjective standpoint, AND which car you feel is a better (more fun) driver.
Thanks for your input.

BigRed03 05-26-2011, 11:21 AM does the mustang have stock rubber, or stickier? Cuz it needs sticky rubber...

toddstang 05-26-2011, 11:45 AM I love the Shelby's!
But for the price you can buy a GT and put more horses under the hood and save a few $K's.
I like the Vettes too, but that would be further down the list of cars that I want.
Ziggy Cockburn 05-26-2011, 12:09 PM The Vette is an awesome car and understand its lighter and a better track day weapon.
But for me I would take the GT500.. I think it would be an easier car to drive every day than the vette. Also at the end of the day it is still "just" a Mustang to the un-trained eye, I think it would bring less attention then the vette would, and I like that.
jmiller_1974 05-26-2011, 12:15 PM Both are beautiful, but I would take the GT500 if I had that choice to make(wouldn't choose either one, IRL. I like small cars). As for which one is more fun to drive? Having driven neither one, I really couldn't tell You, but I'd be willing to bet either one would be more fun than I'm having now, lol.
Maddog78 05-26-2011, 01:20 PM I pick neither one.
I pick my car. [:)]

Forced to choose, ahh, well, I dunno, probably the Vette.
I used to have a Vette way back in the 70's. It was OK.
Back then, I thought it was a lot better than it really was.
FocusSTHopeful 05-26-2011, 01:27 PM I'm not planning on buying one, but someone I know is.
I agree I like the Boss 302 more, but I think it is a little less comfortable in day to day driving. I would have no problem with this.
the vette is fast, sure, but i've seen Grandsports in real life, and I constantly amazed at how.."plastic"... they look. The cheap headlight housing, the overall small size, and just some of the interior and exterior make the car look a bit cheap.
The Shelby has a nice supercharger, and I like it with the stripes. I do not like RC car antenna, and I think the fog lights/NHIS-mandated orange reflective thingies in the bumper make it look really sorta of lame (easily fixed, though).
So, I would take the Shelby.
FNSMOKE 05-26-2011, 01:37 PM Well, if that Shelby comes with a turbo ... I'd like to see it compare to the Grand Sport. :) As for the other supercharged Shelbys ......
Personally, agree with Ziggy Cockburn's assessment.
The Vette is a great overall vehicle and probably the better 'buy' with all things considered. Excellent track car that can comfortably bring you home every weekend. Although, I'd prefer the Shelby because the daily driving position is just more comfortable for me. My 'sight picture' out the windows is comfortably suited for the more upright mustang driving position.
Recommend the Vette if it 'fits', you wouldn't be disappointed.
Paladin 05-26-2011, 01:41 PM smoke, i doubt ford will ever puta turbocharger on a mustang. its going to be far easier to package a twin screw supercharger on a v8 car. especailly a mustang. always has, always will be.

He was referring to a typo I made (edited out) where I said the shelby had a turbo charger.
wrc_fan 05-26-2011, 04:00 PM Personally I can't get past the corvette stigma, one of these days I'll meet someone cool that drives a corvette, until then... I'd go with the mustang.
sctrooperlx 05-27-2011, 08:34 AM I say gt-500 but i am bias lol
alex62390 05-27-2011, 09:34 AM I'll take the corvette all day. I am not a rustang fan. Mustang owners can be just as bad with doucheyness as Vette owners. and with the vette you get a more track capable platform.
focus_guy_03 05-27-2011, 12:35 PM I'd take the 'Vette over the 'Stang. The 'Stangs are nice, and I really like the interior of the 2010+, but having driven both an '09 Corvette convertible with the Selective Ride and a '10 Mustang (albeit a V6), I much prefer the ride/handling of the 'Vette, even with the suspension set on 'sport'...I'm not a fan of the shimmy the Mustang exhibits over rough roads due to the solid rear axle.
