: Oh that's it I'm flaming the moar lows!
FocusBoy58 05-19-2011, 08:10 PM Ok today I sat behind a convoy of traffic while a moar low crew one by one went 2mph over train tracks with their hazards on... Hahahahah this makes you so cool btw just full of win when you have to hold up traffic for a dip in the road while im jumping the train tracks without even as much as a tire rub..
I'm sorry this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen... Why ruin your cars, your chassis, your tires? I mean honestly I can't say any of those guys could even make u turn.
Dumb dumb dumb you'll never catch any of my cars so low that they ruin it's ability to even enjoy the ride or a good corner for that matter..
That's right I just started it! I had a fellow member say he would be pissed to see all these tube components I have on my car from Dom if the car wasn't slammed to the floor... Ya better chance of me selling my car over slamming it.
Yes I agree these cars look nice at a show or something but they shouldn't be on the street especially the ones that can't manage a sharp turn at 5mph without ripping the damn fenders off of them...

Wait 5mph? I thought the whole idea was to make it handle?[???:)]
So its not actually to help it drive better its just to look cool?
This is the one i like, i mean how safe is this?

I mean who cares about everyone else on the road right? its moar low
LouBomb 05-19-2011, 08:32 PM LoL! oh boy.. this might just turn out to be a whole nother war.
Mike_Mac 05-19-2011, 08:33 PM lowering a car 1"-2" i usually done to improve handling. anything over 2"-2.5" is show. i'm lowered about 1.5" and i really only slow down alittle for train tracks, most i just keep the same speed. odd really bumpy ones ill go from 60km/h to 45km/h then speed back up. if you lower a car to the point its unusable on the street is stupid.
funniest thing i saw was an integra go around the corner at my house bumper hit the ground and got ripped off and caught in its wheel well and under the car. i laughed so hard watching him try and get it out.
iminhell 05-19-2011, 08:36 PM Preach on ...
IIRC most states have bumper height laws, which apply to lowered vehicles as well as raised.
I know years and years back when the lowrider truck scene was stronger here the local PD handed out tickets to a few of the mini truck owners.
If you see them again toss a stick in front of them and watch them do a 43 point turn to avoid it.

And what did it cost you? Was it worth what ever it improved? track times? on ramp cornering speed?

Now THAT is a handling improvement.
Mike_Mac 05-19-2011, 09:09 PM And what did it cost you? Was it worth what ever it improved? track times? on ramp cornering speed?
definitely can take corners with more speed. there are many merge ramps where i used to live where it went from an 80km/h to 80km/h but the ramp had an advised speed for 40km/h i would just keep it at 90km/h and go threw the ramp/turn. before i did that the car rolled so much even doing 60km/h that i didn't push it past that. but after i put on the tein springs and koni shocks 90km/h felt like cake. could probably go faster but thats illegal. also got 0.2sec off my 60ft time so i think i gain some traction/less weight transfer to the rear.
i sometimes scrape my bumper on super steep entrances to places. like on a 30' slant if i pull out to fast ill hear it hit, but my stock 00 zts hits too soooo cant really blame lowering the car. but if i was slammed like 2" off the ground i would get stuck on the rad support, or rip it right off and mess my header up.
cost was like ~$400 for springs/shocks and $80 for a 4 wheel alignment at ford.
karguy427 05-19-2011, 09:09 PM First time I've heard the expression 'moar low crew'...
I get the idea, but I guess I'm getting too old to understand everything (59)..
And are you spelling everything correctly?
Phokus 05-19-2011, 09:15 PM I hate the peeps that were speeding around in their uber low cars in the area here and one day speed bumps showed up along the road and those same people were now going over them 2mph.. and taking forever.. it was because of those stupid punks that the speed bumps exist anyways.
At least I can still fly over them if I choose to.
FuhFuh Focus 05-19-2011, 09:25 PM Not another one of these threads. [rolleyes]

I guess thats my problem.
Ide like to upgrade my suspension, add some springs and shocks and stuff with a little color other then just black everything. Everything i seem to find is just for lowering and i like the stock ride hight just the way it is.
Not another one of these threads. [rolleyes]
Why not? the forum is littered with threads on lowering. Ive yet to see a thread with non-lowered cars.

Get the SVT kit.
Its barely lower than stock.
Master-Baits 05-19-2011, 10:19 PM I've always been for mods that are practical.... and also look good.

What about sway bars?

Dude how did you get away with a user name like that?

lmao [facepalm]
mmmoose 05-19-2011, 10:35 PM Regarding "slammed" cars, I hate 'em too. They're just as idiotic as those cars that jump up and down on hydraulics. Sometimes I'm ashamed to own a VW because the community is packed with douchey hipsters that ruin their car this way. It's the main reason why I avoid events like Waterfest and H20 in my area.
What about sway bars?
The SVT suspension kit comes with a rear sway bar too. And I can definitely vouch for its awesomeness. The ride is a little rougher, but your cornering ability drastically improves. Best mod I had ever spent on my old ZX3 Focus.
Mike_Mac 05-19-2011, 11:17 PM kinda feel bad for going on about a buddys truck. but its lowered, not completely slammed. (i think 3" front and 4" rear in a S10). but he cant crank his wheels all the way because the rim hits the control arm. last time we had it on a hoist his rim actual cut a groove into the arm about 1/2" deep. "ahhh.. F[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]. guess ill be looking for after market arms"
bigjordan 05-19-2011, 11:18 PM I feel like I'm on miata.net. I like it. Also, what about those guys driving around in their ridiculously lifted trucks? Yeah, what about them?

i hate the headlights. and the illegal hids in truck. kill them!!
CJohn364 05-20-2011, 12:48 AM I love my Eibach Pro 1.5in drop. It low enough to really hug the curves and high enough that I very rarely scrape anything. Cars with more than a 2 inch drop are impractical for a DD, IMHO.
jmcrides03 05-20-2011, 01:07 AM not sure my exact drop since my springs have been altered and the spring isolators shaved but i would assume compared to others ive seen im about 2.5 inch down and i dont scrape on much of anything but bad driveways and ill hit a set of railroad tracks at 40 without flinching, i plan to go a little bit lower but im already real close to tucking 195/60/15s in the front and it still rides just fine and handles better than stock

lol what about yours?
fine then I'll add.
bam not lowered......still scrape on bumps. damn mid body frame rails [facepalm](look you can see em too!)

WiscoGTI 05-20-2011, 01:15 AM I go slow over train tracks and I only have a 1.5" - ish drop. So what? I don't feel bad at all. Some train tracks and crap roads can ruin even stock suspensions.
Get over it. If you don't like it.. here's a tissue.
Why not? the forum is littered with threads on lowering. Ive yet to see a thread with non-lowered cars.
The only problem with that is that this thread isn't for people with non-lowered cars. It's a thread for bashing the people who DO lower their cars. Again. You people are getting butthurt over what OTHERS do to their cars. It's not your car, so don't worry about it. And I highly doubt the extra 5 seconds it takes someone like me, who crawls over train tracks if I'm unsure of how smooth they are, is going to ruin your day.
And how many times are you really going to run into a ton of them at once? Chances are, not often.
People with slammed cars don't run around talking shit to people who don't slam their cars. So why do you people do it to them? Get the [:)][:)][:)][:)] over it and stop acting like crybabies. I swear, I'm going to walk around FocusFest passing out bibs and baby bottles this year.
mikebontoft 05-20-2011, 01:34 AM ^^ this would be funny and yes just worry about your own cars....
I smile when I see groups of said description...or really any group of cars because they're enjoying them [thumb]
BowerR64 05-20-2011, 01:34 AM I dont qualify for focusFest.

youve done it again my friend.. [histerical][histerical][histerical]
Paladin 05-20-2011, 01:59 AM gee. ive ridden in really low cars here. and we dont get slowed by train tracks. perhaps they should stop worrying if it'll scrape and jsut let the bastard clearance itself.
then again i'm probably the only member who has regularly sent my focus sailing through the air on purpose.
WiscoGTI 05-20-2011, 02:11 AM youve done it again my friend.. [histerical][histerical][histerical]

Lmao. Yeah. That's probably it.
There's a set of tracks I pass daily on my way to work.. and the pavement is about 2-3 inches lower than the tracks. If I hit it at the speed limit, 35, I'd be buying new front end links and my SVT dampers would probably be shot after a week or two.
jmiller_1974 05-20-2011, 02:32 AM Sorry, but We are NOT going down this road again. You don't lie it? DON"T DO IT.
Since this subject(among others) keeps getting beaten into the ground every month or so, I'm gonna shut it down. You wanna complain about low car? Go start a blog.
