: What Options Should I REALLY Get?
justy 05-15-2011, 05:16 PM Of course I WANT all of the bells and whistles on my upcoming 2012 Focus...but do I really need them/will I miss them if I don't have them?
I was planning on getting everything but the Vision Group, Parking Group, and Nav on the Titanium Hatch...am I making the right choice leaving those out?
P.S. I don't care about the two tone seats so those are left out by default.
usapatriot 05-15-2011, 05:19 PM Personally, I'd be happy with an SE Hatch w/ Sport Package, 17" wheels and MFT/SYNC.
mysticbluebmw 05-15-2011, 05:41 PM That big 'ol hi-res MFT screen just begs for nav, but I can only only tell you my preferences, yours are likely different from mine.
me2000 05-15-2011, 05:54 PM Gotta get nav with that big screen. You'll regret it.
MoggSquad 05-15-2011, 05:54 PM I agree and disagree. A good amount of people on this forum have reported issues with MFT and it seems to be most common in the units with the navigation package.
I really wanted SEL 301a w/ nav, but the car was sold before I can buy it. I ended up buying SEL 303a minus navigation. Wondering if I'm better off without it at this point.
You can still get directions via Sync, just no maps.

Spartan12 05-15-2011, 07:47 PM I passed on the parking feature, however I wish I still had the rear view cam. Got everything else tho', and glad I did.
justy 05-15-2011, 08:09 PM Can you get the rear view cam without parking assist?

Not in the U.S. I don't know about Canada. It's the only reason I got the parking assist, I really wanted a backup cam this time around.

Isn't the reverse sensing system a camera with the spec 401 a package?
MacAttack 05-15-2011, 09:49 PM Personally, I'd be happy with an SE Hatch w/ Sport Package, 17" wheels and MFT/SYNC.
Agreed. I built one online today exactly like that.
lrbr30022 05-15-2011, 10:23 PM Reverse sensing system is not a camera. If you want a camera, you need to get Parking Assist. That is the only reason I got the Park Assist, although everyone I know cannot wait to see it park itself. Maybe the only time I use it is demo'ing to my friends! But the camera I will use all the time.
I do think ultimately I will be happy I added the Parking Assist.

dieselboy77 05-16-2011, 02:33 AM i am going to get a titanium trim with sport handling package, sony sound system, winter package and manual transmission

How do you plan to get a titanium with manual transmission?
28HopUp 05-16-2011, 08:25 AM After getting my Focus, I went into the parts department and ordered the plastic rear cargo liner. I paid $75 (MSRP was $90), and don't regret it. It's not super sturdy and the edges sometimes don't lay right, but I'm glad I picked one up. It really dresses up the back, will catch any spills, and the rear edge (towards the front of the car) is flexible enough to lay flat when I put the seats down to carry cargo.
lscrx 05-16-2011, 08:45 AM I thought the only way to get MFT was if you went with the SEL or Titanium
.Personally, I'd be happy with an SE Hatch w/ Sport Package, 17" wheels and MFT/SYNC.

meh my salesman said unless you live in the big city Parking Assist is pretty useless but to each their own. :)
osuivan 05-16-2011, 09:45 AM The park assist is, but the back up camera is usefull every where. I kind of regret I didn't get it.
cappa 05-16-2011, 10:36 AM You don't need Parking Assist for that, just get an aftermarket one.

That's how I feel about factory nav systems.
dieselboy77 05-16-2011, 11:13 AM How do you plan to get a titanium with manual transmission?
well when ford offer it with manual next year
Dgc333 05-16-2011, 11:45 AM In my 30 years of buying new cars I have never once considered resale value in a purchase decision. To pay $1000 for an option so you can get an extra $200 5 years latter doesn't make sense to me.
Power seats and tilt wheels have always been a useless options to me and I find cloth upholstery to be much more comfortable than leather. For a vehicle like the Focus backup camera's and parking assist are gimmicks that I see no need for.
mysticbluebmw 05-16-2011, 11:49 AM As I said, everyone has their own preferences. Myself, I really wanted a back up cam for backing out of my long declined driveway which sits at the vertex of a residential T-intersection.
You don't need Parking Assist for that, just get an aftermarket one.
That's true, and it's a valid point. I just think for the price of installing an aftermarket backup cam, for only a small amount more you can get the factory integrated cam AND the auto park assist feature. The auto park assist might actually be useful, too. I live in a smaller town, but I do a fair amount shopping and dining in our historic district, and much of the parking is on the street, so I do quite a bit a parallel parking. I don't need the car to do it for me, but it might be novel, and my wife could sure use it when she's driving, lol! Does anyone know if the front/rear sensors have any visual ques in the MFT alongside the beeping?

I'm not knocking anyone's thought processes when adding options to a car, hell anyone that does is a moron lol but I just figure if people really wanted a camera they could have just gotten an aftermarket one for much less ... like those license plate ones for like $50 and do the installation yourself :P
I was actually going to get the park assist to but my salesman talked me out of it.
mysticbluebmw 05-16-2011, 08:21 PM It's all good. [cheers]
lrbr30022 05-16-2011, 09:33 PM Speaking as a single woman, if it doesn't come on the car, it ain't ever going to be added to the car :-)
I am very happy with the options I chose, and I chose just about all of them. I feel I got a great deal on the car and really didn't see any reason not to get them.
Get what you want to get if you can afford it.

The bottom line on all purchasing decisions. I can say woulda coulda all the way home from the dealership, but the fact is, if the wallet can't support it, it's not very much of a decision anyway.
